Moving to Los Angeles and Facing Challenges
Following the completion of his education, Mr. De Nicolo resolved to chase his dream of becoming a professional musician. However, upon arriving in the city, he recognized his status as a jack-of-all-trades, easily outshone by someone with a more focused trajectory. Despite his insight into many aspects of the entertainment industry, he felt this knowledge was holding him back.
During this period, Mr. De Nicolo held dual roles as a composer and music producer at Mirtillo Records LLC from 2017 to 2022, and as a DJ, host and entertainment producer at Player One Arcade Bar from 2019 to 2022. Though he struggled to keep pace, he fell more deeply in love with the industry. Mr. De Nicolo soon recognized his natural orientation toward entrepreneurship and that he was well-positioned to become a business owner.
Conceptualizing the Zero Lounge
After a transformative personal journey at the end of 2022, Mr. De Nicolo began to conceptualize what would become Zero Lounge. His experience composing for films and video games, as well as his weekend DJ gigs, ignited the passion, and by 2023, his experiences enabled him to open the Zero Lounge.
Evoking a nostalgia for the essence of the late 1990s and early 2000s, the Zero Lounge represents the convergence of Mr. De Nicolo's artistic pursuits in both music and hospitality. In many ways, the business is a showcase of his journey from musician to bar owner, the work he has done and the obstacles he has overcome to find the success he has today.
Building a Unique Experience
Under Mr. De Nicolo's leadership, the Zero Lounge continues to refine its programming, catering to audiences with genre nights and flagship Y2K pop parties. Rather than hiring any DJ available, Zero Lounge aims to provide the music audiences are expecting on particular nights of the week, ensuring that anyone can enjoy their experience at the lounge.
Moving forward, Mr. De Nicolo plans to achieve sustainability and profitability for his business, all while building a unique community. Though a relatively new entrepreneur, his mind is set on fully realizing the vision for his establishment, a space that resonates with millennials centered on culture, art, and entertainment.
