The Hormel Institute, University of Minnesota, and Nu-Tek BioSciences are proud to announce the inaugural Ribbon Research Open, a charity golf tournament taking place in Austin, Minnesota. Set for August 18, 2025, at the Austin Country Club, this collaborative event aims to bring together community members, local businesses, and industry leaders to raise vital funds for cancer research at The Hormel Institute. Participants can register teams of four or become event sponsors, with all proceeds supporting cancer research that will improve human health and extend lives.
The Ribbon Research Open marks a new tradition in Austin, offering a day of camaraderie, competition, and philanthropy. As cancer remains one of the leading health challenges worldwide, The Hormel Institute continues to drive scientific discovery and innovation in cancer research. By joining forces with Nu-Tek BioSciences – the leader in animal-free cell culture ingredients critical to therapeutic manufacturing – this event highlights the power of partnership between academia and industry to accelerate innovations in cancer research. The tournament will feature opportunities for networking, prizes, and recognition for sponsors, making it an impactful experience for all who attend – all while raising crucial funding.
“The support of Nu-Tek Biosciences and the Austin and Mower communities continue to fill us with gratitude as we join forces to raise funds for cancer research," said Dr. Robert Clarke, executive director of The Hormel Institute. "We will remember those whose lives have been or are affected by cancer, and together aim for breakthroughs and discoveries leading to a healthier tomorrow. We look forward to a great day at the Austin Country Club where we can help advance our research together.”
“Nu-Tek is very proud to be a part of The Ribbon Research Open,” shared Tom Yezzi, Nu-Tek BioSciences CEO. “It is a privilege to work with The Hormel Institute to establish this tournament, as it’s one of the best ways we can help create a better future for those impacted by cancer and to support the community that means so much to our Austin team.”
