California Teen Center has expanded its partial hospitalization program for adolescents with PTSD, offering intensive daytime treatment, including CBT and DBT, while allowing teens to return home each evening.

-- California Teen Center has announced expanded structured treatment options for teens experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), with a partial hospitalization program providing intensive daytime mental health care for adolescents whose trauma-related symptoms significantly affect daily life. The family-centered program helps teens receive evidence-based treatment while returning home each evening, supporting continued involvement with family and school throughout the recovery process.

According to the National Center for PTSD, approximately 5% of adolescents in the United States experience PTSD, while many more are exposed to traumatic events that can have lasting effects on emotional well-being and daily functioning. California Teen Center's expanded program is designed to help families identify when a higher level of care may be appropriate for teens experiencing persistent trauma-related symptoms.

"Trauma can affect every aspect of an adolescent's life, including relationships, emotional regulation, school performance, and their sense of safety," a California Teen Center spokesperson said. "For some teens, structured daytime treatment provides the consistency and clinical support needed to address those challenges while maintaining important family involvement throughout the healing process."

California Teen Center's partial hospitalization program incorporates trauma-informed, evidence-based care, including individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, and psychiatric oversight. Therapeutic approaches may include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). The program also provides academic coordination to help teens stay engaged with their education throughout treatment.

California Teen Center is licensed by the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) and accredited by The Joint Commission. In addition to its partial hospitalization program, the center offers teen intensive outpatient programs (IOP), outpatient therapy, step-down support, and virtual IOP for eligible families throughout California. The organization works with major insurance providers, including Anthem, Blue Shield of California, Carelon, and Aetna, and offers insurance verification assistance to help families better understand their coverage options.
