Ecosystem Investment Partners Nears $1.5B Raised with $400 Million Fifth Fund

Ecosystem Investment Partners (“EIP”), a real asset, private equity firm, announced the final close of Ecosystem Investment Partners V, L.P. (“EIP V”) with over $400 million of capital commitments to EIP V and its related entities. Consistent with the strategy of EIP’s prior funds, EIP V will expand its investments in large-scale wetland, stream, water quality, biodiversity and habitat mitigation and restoration projects across the U.S. With nearly $1.5 billion of total capital raised since the Firm’s founding in 2006, EIP is one of the largest investment managers with dedicated expertise in environmental restoration and an extensive track record of investments in the natural capital sector.

EIP received strong support from a diverse base of existing and new limited partners across the US and in Europe, including public and corporate pension funds, endowments, family offices, and other institutional investors. “We are pleased to announce the close of EIP V and grateful for the trust and confidence of our limited partners,” said Nick Dilks, Co-Founder and Managing Partner at EIP. “The strong support from new and returning investors, including particularly significant demand from Europe, reflects increased global recognition of the growing opportunity set and the attractive and uncorrelated returns of investing in nature-based solutions. This backing enables us to continue our efforts to deliver compelling results for our limited partners while driving tangible, large-scale environmental outcomes across the U.S.”

EIP V has already demonstrated significant momentum with over $125 million deployed across nine diversified portfolio investments in Florida, Kentucky, Wisconsin, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, California, and Louisiana. To date, these investments include greenfield mitigation banks that EIP plans to develop as well as the acquisition of existing portfolios of assets that will aim to restore and conserve over 8,000 acres of wetlands and wildlife habitat and 23 miles of streams, underscoring both the scale of deal flow and the firm’s execution capabilities.

Ecosystem Investment Partners was established in 2006 to make targeted investments in large-scale ecological restoration and conservation projects across the US. EIP’s nature-based solutions meet a large and growing demand for environmental offsets that mitigate unavoidable impacts to wetlands, streams, water quality, habitat, and other critical natural resources stemming from infrastructure, commercial, industrial, and residential development.

EIP’s two-decade track record of working with its deep network of public and private customers, natural resource agencies, domain experts, conservation organizations, and local partners provides differentiated market access and high-quality investment opportunities for the firm and its limited partners. EIP’s experienced team is capable of systematically sourcing opportunities in the most active and diverse markets while providing the operational expertise required to deliver ecological restoration and stewardship outcomes across the U.S.

“EIP has established itself as the institutional leader in a compelling and expanding market that we believe has uniquely delivered both strong financial returns and positive environmental impact,” said Ryan Mueller, Partner at Monument Group. “The successful close of EIP V—achieved despite a highly challenging fundraising environment for natural resources-focused strategies—underscores investors’ confidence in the firm’s experienced and tenured team, differentiated approach, and long track record of generating attractive, uncorrelated returns. We are proud to have once again supported EIP and look forward to their continued success.”

Monument Group served as global placement agent on the fundraise. Choate Hall & Stewart LLP provided fund formation counsel.
