Kneron Achieves Zero-Error Performance in ISO Biometric Security Testing, Establishing a New Benchmark for Edge AI Security

By: Get News

SAN DIEGO - Kneron today announced a major milestone in biometric security. Its Face Recognition Module v1.0 achieved perfect results in two of the world’s most important biometric standards, ISO IEC 30107 for anti spoofing protection and ISO IEC 19795 for performance accuracy.

Independent testing was conducted by Fime, a globally recognized biometric laboratory accredited by NIST’s National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program and the FIDO Alliance. Over a month of rigorous evaluation, Kneron’s system recorded zero errors across all categories, a rare achievement in the biometric industry.

This accomplishment places Kneron among the most secure and deployment ready face recognition solutions available today, while operating fully on device using the company’s ultra low power KL series edge AI chips.

Why This Matters Today

Face recognition is now part of everyday life, used to unlock phones and doors, access offices, authorize payments, and verify digital identities. However, many existing systems still rely on older 2D camera technology that can be fooled by printed photos, screen replays, or realistic masks.

At the same time, deepfakes, AI generated images, and 3D replicas are becoming easier and cheaper to create, exposing serious weaknesses in traditional facial recognition systems. To demonstrate its readiness for these modern threats, Kneron submitted its next generation face recognition technology to independent, real world testing with full transparency.

Perfect Results in Security and Accuracy

The evaluation results were flawless. Under the ISO IEC 30107 standard for presentation attack detection, Kneron’s system successfully blocked every attempted spoof, achieving a 0.0 percent spoofing error rate. All 12 tested attack methods were stopped, including printed photos, curved or folded images, screen replay attacks, paper masks, complex layered masks, and full 3D printed heads and hood masks. These results confirm the system’s ability to defend against both basic and highly sophisticated spoofing attempts.

Accuracy was equally strong under ISO IEC 19795 performance testing. Across hundreds of thousands of face matching comparisons involving 150 participants, the system recorded zero false accepts, meaning no unauthorized access, and zero false rejects, ensuring valid users were never locked out. There were no enrollment or capture failures, and performance remained stable in low light, bright light, and challenging indoor environments. The system also maintained fast response times and high accuracy even when users wore glasses, had facial hair, or encountered difficult lighting conditions.

Testing was conducted using a demographically diverse group of participants across age, gender, and racial backgrounds, helping ensure consistent performance across populations and avoiding common algorithm bias issues.

Smarter Security for Homes and Beyond

Many smart locks today still depend on basic 2D cameras that struggle to reliably confirm a real human face. Kneron’s certified system represents a major upgrade by combining Near Infrared imaging, 3D sensing, and a purpose built low power AI chip. This allows the system to capture facial depth and texture, verify human presence, and operate efficiently on battery powered devices.

The result is a new generation of smart locks that are significantly harder to fool, more accurate in everyday use, fully private with no cloud data uploads, and capable of long battery life.

The impact of this technology extends well beyond the home. With certification complete, Kneron’s face recognition module is ready for deployment in access control systems for residential buildings, offices, and high security facilities, as well as financial services such as digital banking, payments, and identity verification. It is also well suited for enterprise and IoT devices that require strong authentication without relying on cloud connectivity.

By tightly integrating its AI algorithms with custom designed AI chips, Kneron helps partners bring secure on device products to market faster, with lower development complexity and energy efficient designs built for real world deployment.

New Baseline for Face Recognition Security

The zero error results achieved by an NVLAP accredited laboratory provide rare proof that strong security, privacy, and convenience can coexist today, not in the future. Rather than relying on cloud processing or unverified claims, Kneron’s results demonstrate that highly secure, on-device face recognition is already achievable.

As Kneron founder and CEO Albert Liu explains, the timing could not be more critical. With deepfakes and digital identity fraud accelerating worldwide, trust in biometric systems is under growing pressure. This certification shows that edge AI can deliver security people can genuinely rely on, without compromising personal data or everyday usability.

In a world facing increasingly sophisticated digital threats, verified trust is essential. By proving that advanced biometric security can be accurate, private, and practical at the same time, Kneron’s achievement sets a new baseline for face recognition and marks an important step toward safer digital experiences in everyday life.
