Who’s Up for Pancake Tacos – Yum!

Think Tacos Aren’t Breakfast Fare?

Well, just when you thought tacos were not made for breakfast, you need to think again! Pancake tacos are a fabulous way to eat a nutritious and innovative breakfast. These tacos aren’t full of beef, lettuce, and tomatoes. They’re a scrumptious breakfast treat made from pancakes, Greek yogurt, blueberries, strawberries, bananas, and nuts.

Taco History 101

The taco has been available in America since the early 1900s. It is believed railroad workers from Mexico first brought food to the U.S. while working as migrants. As Mexican culture has it, migrant workers bring food from home, a true sign of love from their families, and a way to nourish while working without spending much money. The tacos that were brought into the U.S. originally contained cheaper cuts of meat, like organ meat, but when people in Los Angeles started trying the food the Mexican workers had brought with them, they decided to “Americanize” the taco, and that’s where the ground pork and beef entered, as well as the lettuce, tomato, and Pico de Gallo.

Street Food

It is said that Tacos were sold by street vendors in Los Angeles, and once the public caught on, tacos were modified in all sorts of ways. Corn tortillas, flour tortillas, crispy or soft, pork or beef, and toppings like green onions, lettuce, tomatoes, shredded cheese, and cilantro began appearing, and lots of restaurants began to spring up serving tacos.

Let’s Talk Tortillas

If you think about it, a pancake is very similar to a corn or flour tortilla. Both are made from grains and/or flour, are round, and can be folded in half and loaded with ingredients for a delicious handheld food option.

Pancake Tacos Chock Full of Healthy Adornments

These innovative pancake tacos filled with Greek yogurt, strawberries, bananas, blueberries, raspberries, and nuts are an absolute culinary delight and a great way to feed breakfast to a crowd.

A Griddle is Essential

Using the GoodCook Double Burner Griddle over two burners on your stove, you simply prepare a batch of medium-sized pancakes from your favorite pancake mix. The ability to utilize two burners maximizes the use of your stovetop by giving you ample space to make a large batch of pancakes for your Pancake Tacos. Cleaning this griddle is a cinch with its durable, quality, nonstick interior. The handles, which are riveted to the griddle’s body, stay cool for safe pickup.

Carefully remove the completed pancakes using the GoodCook Flexible Turner with a flexible nylon head. This quality utensil will ensure the fresh pancakes stay intact for folding and loading later.

“Some Assembly Required”

Once you have your pancakes prepared and set aside, it’s time to assemble all the fillings and start loading up the pancake taco. By placing the yogurt, fruits, and nuts into the pancake, the folded treat will serve as great food that doesn’t require utensils. What a great indulgence to serve at a special brunch or ladies’ luncheon. The pancake tacos could even be used as a snack at a birthday party or a dessert after a fine meal.

There are numerous ways to enjoy pancake tacos, and you can even use your imagination about different fillings for the pancake taco. Take granola, for example. A delicious taco could be created using granola, bananas, and Greek yogurt. Another option would be to add peaches and fresh mint. Let yourself think outside the box on how this culinary delight could be modified and enjoyed in numerous ways.

Go ahead and try your hand at Pancake Tacos. Your family will be delighted with this fun, appetizing, nutritious treat at breakfast or anytime!
