Marquis Who's Who Honors Donald R. Eggett for Expertise in Nuclear Energy

UNIONDALE, NY / ACCESS Newswire / September 30, 2025 / Marquis Who's Who honors Donald R. Eggett for his expertise in nuclear energy. Mr. Eggett is the president and principal of Eggett Consulting LLC. With more than 40 years of professional experience, he has become a trusted authority in management, decision-making, technical readiness, regulatory compliance, policy-making and consulting for the nuclear sector.

An Emphasis on Performance Excellence

Mr. Eggett began his career in 1965 in operations at Commonwealth Edison, which over the years became Exelon Nuclear and is now Constellation. He advanced through a number of increasing technical and management roles within the company, and was eventually promoted to a senior director within the nuclear strategic planning division in 1992. There he contributed to near and long-term company strategies, including company growth, business opportunities and operational improvements. "When working for Exelon, performance was the number one emphasis. Your performance had to be top-notch," he says. To this day, he feels his leadership with the company remains a highlight of his career.

Following over two decades as an employee at Exelon, Mr. Eggett joined Automated Engineering Services in 1998 as assistant to the president. There, he focused on marketing, business development and client engagement to strengthen the company's presence in the nuclear energy market. From 2013 to 2016, Mr. Eggett worked as an executive account manager and business development strategist at Amec Foster Wheeler. There, he managed and built client relationships and was central in delivering services across the energy sector. He retired as an executive in 2016.

In 2016, he established Eggett Consulting LLC in Illinois. Through his firm, he continues to provide technical and management consulting services for the current nuclear fleet and for initiatives driving the future of the advanced reactor operating fleet. He offers insights into commercial operations, tactical and strategic planning, as well as the need for nuclear industry standards.

Leadership in Nuclear Collaboration and Safety

Mr. Eggett has played a significant role in advancing collaboration across the nuclear industry. He currently chairs the industry Advanced Reactor Codes and Standards Collaborative (ARCSC), is a member of the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI), works closely with the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), and continues his engagement with utilities. He also previously chaired the American Nuclear Society Standards Committee Board. The ARCSC group is comprised of nearly 60 members and meets regularly to strengthen the advanced reactor development efforts. "A lot of what we're doing supports organizations such as the utilities and designers, the Electric Power Research Institute, the Nuclear Energy Institute and the regulators," he says.

Safety, performance and cost efficiencies remain top priorities in the industry. Regulators and public commissions have high expectations. Professionals must maintain the highest standards that protect both the public and the future of nuclear power production. As a result, Mr. Eggett stresses the importance of precise documentation. "In the nuclear field, safety is the number one goal we're constantly striving for," he says. "Every crossed ‘t' and every dotted ‘i' matters. That might sound like an exaggeration, but it's not."

Career Growth in the Commercial Sector

Mr. Eggett earned a Bachelor of Science from John Carroll University in Cleveland in 1969. His academic foundation supported his early years in the U.S. Nuclear Navy and later his career in the commercial sector. Additionally, he values integrity, honesty and transparency as guiding principles.

"What's notable is the significant increase in integrated working relationships and team building across the nuclear sector," Mr. Eggett says. In this environment, colleagues often turn to him for innovative ideas in strategic planning. These collaborative efforts reflect his long-standing influence in the nuclear energy sector.

Encouragement for Young Professionals

Mr. Eggett admits the nuclear industry has its share of challenges. However, he expresses excitement over younger professionals entering the field and encourages them. "They need to be aware of these challenges and approach them with intention. First, by listening to people and organizations that have experience - learning how others have navigated the same terrain - and then moving forward from there," he says.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Mr. Eggett values quality time spent with his family. He and his wife enjoy traveling in the United States and abroad and they currently have plans to explore the Scandinavian countries and Hawaii. They also plan to spend time with their sons and daughters-in-law, one in Oregon and the other in Illinois, along with their three grandchildren.
