First Steps of Growing a Career

Despite her talents in accounting, Ms. Hoenig's first interest was history, a career she pursued by earning a bachelor's degree from the University of Denver in 2005. She experienced difficulties finding a fulfilling career in the field; however, this prompted her father to encourage Ms. Hoenig to work for him part time. She joined Lutz | Hoenig CPAs in 2007 and quickly discovered her skill set suited her position nicely, providing her the opportunity to improve the business with her forward-thinking approach and collaborative mindset.

Bolstered by this success, Ms. Hoenig sought to enhance her technical capabilities, which drove her to earn a bachelor's degree in accounting from Metropolitan State University in 2016. Soon thereafter, she received her CPA designation from the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies.

Strength Through Determination and Support

In 2019, Ms. Hoenig became a partner at her father's firm and eventually purchased the business from him, becoming the sole owner and chief executive officer. This milestone is her greatest professional achievement to date.

Ms. Hoenig credits her success to an open-minded approach to learning, determination and the staunch support of her family, especially her father and husband. Her father entrusted her with the freedom to innovate, helping her recognize her talents at the firm. Meanwhile, her husband, Jonathan Hoenig, has provided constant encouragement and a firm belief in her goals and vision for the firm.

Ms. Hoenig's professional relationships with the Better Business Bureau and volunteer work with the American Academy have also served as sources of inspiration.

Aspirations and Personal Life

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Ms. Hoenig is a proud mother of three daughters, staying engaged in their sports activities and academics. She maintains her sense of adventure outside of her firm by exploring new restaurants and staying active at the gym.

As the owner of Lutz | Hoenig CPAs, Ms. Hoenig aspires to expand the firm's reach while sharing her knowledge and experience through book clubs for business owners and a video-based educational course on tax topics. In doing so, she hopes to provide her clients, team and community the same opportunities for growth and empowerment she received.
