Marquis Who's Who Honors Samantha Slotnick, OD, for Expertise in Holistic Optometry

UNIONDALE, NY / ACCESS Newswire / September 30, 2025 / Marquis Who's Who honors Samantha Slotnick, OD, FAAO, FOVDR, for more than two decades of experience in the field of holistic optometry. Dr. Slotnick has achieved notable success as a behavioral optometrist and the founder of Mind-Body-World Optometry. Focused on helping patients in need, she continues to change lives through vision care.

An Inspiration to Help Others

As a child, Dr. Slotnick struggled with significant vision problems. Regardless, she developed a rich inner world and mastered a diverse range of skills. Later in life, she discovered that she had a photographic memory, despite her vision problems. In high school and college, the issue became more pronounced, leading to double vision and difficulty reading. Based on her own struggles, she was inspired to help others overcome their difficulties.

From Chemistry and Psychology to Optometry

Dr. Slotnick's undergraduate training was broadened with a "Take Five" scholarship at the University of Rochester, which helped her combine the depth of a science degree with the breadth of a liberal arts education, graduating in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science with distinction in chemistry and a major in psychology. With this foundation, she went on to earn a Doctor of Optometry and complete a residency in vision therapy and rehabilitation at the State University of New York College of Optometry in 2004 and 2005, respectively. Following this, Dr. Slotnick completed fellowships with the American Academy of Optometry in 2005 and the College of Optometrists in Vision Development in 2009 (now "Optometric Vision Development & Rehabilitation Association").

From 2006 to 2010, Dr. Slotnick served as a behavioral optometrist at Vision Learning Center. Also in 2006, she became a research scientist with Manhattan Vision Associates, a role she occupied until 2014. In 2010, Dr. Slotnick joined the State University of New York College of Optometry as an adjunct assistant research professor. During her last year at the college, she launched her own behavioral optometry practice.

At her private practice, Samantha Slotnick, OD, FAAO, FCOVD, Dr. Slotnick focused on providing holistic eye and vision care, as well as vision therapy and neuro-optometric visual rehabilitation. She has helped both children and adults learn to maximize their visual potential, offering natural alternatives to pharmaceutical and surgical intervention. In 2023, with an expanded clinical team, Dr. Slotnick established Mind-Body-World Optometry, where she serves as the clinical director.

Helping Children Understand Vision Care

In addition to her clinical career, Dr. Slotnick has been a sought-after lecturer and contributor to optometric textbooks. In 2024, she published her first children's book, "But MOMMY, I can SEE!" to help parents and children understand the difference between seeing and seeing well. Sylvia, the book's protagonist, wonders why she needs to wear lenses. She realizes she doesn't need glasses for clarity, but benefits from using them when reading and learning. The book honors not only the parent, teacher and optometrist, but especially the child who wants to understand the purpose of her glasses.

Plans for the Future

Moving forward, Dr. Slotnick has ambitions to train aspiring professionals and establish a residency program at her own practice. At the same time, she has been developing various ideas on supporting individuals as part of a multi-disciplinary team (Ted's Path), using lenses as a passive therapy to guide posture and movement. Ultimately, Dr. Slotnick's goal is to help children and families empower themselves with a broadened perspective, a clear sense of direction, and the benefit of visual comfort.
