About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Marc Whitehead & Associates 2025 Scholarship Winners

Congratulations, Ava Deakin and Mah-Kayla Joseph!

HOUSTON, TX, August 14, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marc Whitehead & Associates is proud to announce the winners of its 2025 Frances & Earl Perry Memorial Veterans Scholarship and Flora Marie Jenkins Memorial Disability Scholarship. Both scholarships are valued at $5,000 and strive to make it easier for high-achieving students to pursue a college degree.

Marc Whitehead & Associates' 2025 Frances & Earl Perry Memorial Veterans Scholarship goes to Mah-Kayla Joseph, a pre-law track student at Louisiana State University. Mah-Kayla's scholarship essay goes into detail about how her experiences in a military family drove her to understand the importance of a strong community.

Mah-Kayla hopes to translate her experience working with military families and other communities in need into a career in law. She looks forward to one day making her legal services available to underserved communities and hopes to offer pro bono services to those in the most need of assistance.

Ava Deakin stands to receive Marc Whitehead & Associates' 2025 Flora Marie Jenkins Memorial Disability Scholarship. Deakin's PNPLA6 Ataxia diagnosis transformed her life, putting a name to the condition that made it difficult for her to retain motor control over her legs.

Deakin is passionate about disability advocacy. Her personal experiences challenging anti-disability architecture and mindsets have transformed her surrounding community and given her the chance to connect with wide-reaching activists to spread the word about disability outreach.

Deakin is currently a student at the University of Southern California, where she intends to pursue her degree in Political Science (Pre-Law Track) and Themed Entertainment.

Both of these young women will receive $5,000 to dedicate toward their tuition and other collegiate expenses. Marc Whitehead & Associates is proud to make it easier for these exceptional students to prioritize their studies, extracurricular activities, and long-term career goals.

Anyone interested in applying for the 2026 Frances & Earl Perry Memorial Veterans Scholarship and Flora Marie Jenkins Memorial Disability Scholarship can visit Marc Whitehead & Associates' scholarship page for more information on the scholarships' terms and conditions.
