About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Wanta Thome Employment Lawyers to Give Away 500 Stocked Backpacks to Ease Back-to-School Financial Strain for St. Paul Families

Project Backpack event on August 22 at West Minnehaha Rec Center aims to ensure local students start the academic year prepared to succeed; Feeding Frogtown to distribute groceries at the same location.

ST. PAUL, MN, August 20, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- To address the mounting financial pressure on local families during back-to-school season, Wanta Thome is launching Project Backpack, a new community initiative. On Friday, August 22, the employment law firm will give away 500 free backpacks filled with essential school supplies to K–12 students and their families at the West Minnehaha Rec Center in Saint Paul from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.

The event is designed to alleviate the financial burdens families face as they prepare for the new school year. As part of a broader community-focused afternoon at the Rec Center, families will also have the opportunity to receive fresh produce and groceries from Feeding Frogtown, which will be holding its food distribution event at the same time and location.

As an employment law firm dedicated to restoring stability for workers, Wanta Thome recognizes that community support is crucial for success. Project Backpack is a direct extension of the firm's mission to help families in the community feel secure and supported.

"As a parent preparing for back-to-school myself, I know the back-to-school season is a mix of excitement and financial stress," said Shawn Wanta, Managing Member of Wanta Thome. "The cost of supplies adds up quickly, and that pressure is real for so many families. At Wanta Thome, our mission is to restore stability for people who have been wronged in the workplace, and that starts in our own community. Project Backpack is our way of ensuring every student has the tools to succeed from day one, so families can focus on what really matters—a great start to the school year."

Each backpack is stocked with grade-appropriate supplies, including notebooks, folders, pencils, and crayons. To ensure broad access, backpacks are limited to one per K-12 student. While supplies will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, families are encouraged to pre-register online to guarantee a backpack. Over 100 students have already been pre-registered for the event.
