About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Support the SPLC's Progress in the Deep South and Beyond

DESCRIPTION:

Now is an exciting time to join the Southern Poverty Law Center's community of like-minded advocates.

The Southern Poverty Law Center is dedicated to bold, transformative actions that dismantle white supremacy, strengthen intersectional movements, and advance the human rights of all people.

For 50 years, we’ve worked as a catalyst for racial justice in the Deep South and beyond through innovative legal efforts, public education campaigns, and other forms of advocacy. Today, the organization is charting a course guided by clearly defined values and a renewed dedication to collaborating with partners across communities in the Deep South.

In the coming months, we’re implementing our 2021 Vision for a Just America plan, which promotes an equitable criminal justice system and a humane immigration system, expands ballot access, sustains healthier communities, and combats discrimination in schools and the workplace.

None of this work would be possible without the generous support of people like you. The SPLC neither accepts government funds nor do we ask for payment from those we serve.

The SPLC’s Intelligence Project uses investigative journalism to expose extremist groups — including neo-Nazis, neo-Confederates, anti-LGBTQ groups, anti-Muslim groups, anti-government militias, and others —to minimize their influence in society. Not only do we carefully track active, domestic hate groups—now numbering 838—we publish investigative reports and share key intelligence and expert analysis with Congress, the media, and the public.

Our Learning for Justice program, formerly known as Teaching Tolerance, fosters equitable learning environments and supports social justice education by providing award-winning, anti-bias materials to teachers and schools nationwide. We are one of our nation’s leading providers of anti-bias resources – both in print and online. We know that justice is the heart of what we want for our young people and society at large.

Our resources that help students and educators grapple with the realities of systemic racism in a culturally responsive and trauma-informed way are more crucial now than ever. As calls grow to ban discussing how race and racism shape our society in a classroom setting, we will not slow our efforts to support educators as they tell the truth about our country's history and navigate difficult conversations about systemic racism.

The SPLC’s Legal Working Groups stand up for victims of discrimination and hate. For more than four decades, we’ve won landmark cases that brought systemic reforms in the Deep South. We’ve toppled remnants of Jim Crow segregation and destroyed violent white supremacist groups. We’ve shattered barriers to equality for women, vulnerable children, the LGBT community, and the disabled. We’ve protected migrant workers and immigrants from abuse, ensured the humane treatment of prisoners, reformed juvenile justice practices, and more.

Today, with a staff of more than 100 lawyers and advocates, we’re focused on impact litigation in these practice areas: Children’s Rights, Economic Justice, Immigrant Justice, LGBTQ Rights, Voting Rights, and Criminal Justice Reform.

Our work focuses primarily on the Deep South, but we strategically seek cases worthy of class-action status and that set legal precedent, creating a national impact through systemic reform.
