DESCRIPTION:

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa /3BL Media/ – Travero, the logistics solutions subsidiary of Alliant Energy, announces construction is complete at Logistics Park Cedar Rapids (LPCR). As the region’s newest and largest rail-served public warehouse and transload facility, LPCR offers a unique mix of transportation options and supply chain benefits to customers at a strategically located operation.

LPCR is located inside the city limits of Fairfax, southwest of Cedar Rapids, within Alliant Energy’s Big Cedar Industrial Center, which includes nearly 1,400 acres of space available for additional development.

The 259,000-square-foot, food-grade-certified warehouse with 32-foot-tall ceilings includes 39 loading bays for trucks and four railcar docks that allow freight to transfer efficiently between the warehouse, train cars and trucks.

“Logistics Park Cedar Rapids offers flexibility for customers to benefit from both the speed of trucking and the long-haul cost efficiencies of rail,” said Lisha Coffey, president of Travero. “Thank you to the many community leaders, contractors and employees for their support to bring this project to life. By offering much-needed amenities, we’re able to serve a wide range of industries and help grow the community by supporting development opportunities which bring new businesses to the area.”

LPCR is equipped to serve customers in fast-growing industries such as food and beverage, consumer packaged goods, industrial machinery and parts, building materials, electronics, appliances and more.

The strategic location of LPCR enables convenient access via road, rail and air. Trucking customers can avoid the higher costs and traffic congestion associated with bigger cities and still be within a few hours of major metropolitan areas such as Chicago, Kansas City and Minneapolis. Rail customers benefit from the facility’s direct connection to the national rail network via the affiliated Cedar Rapids and Iowa City Railway Company (CRANDIC). The park sits 10 minutes from the Eastern Iowa Airport, providing an added benefit for customers with air freight. Ports on the Mississippi River, such as Travero’s Logistics Park Dubuque, are also in close proximity and can easily be reached by truck or rail.

The site also serves as Travero’s new corporate headquarters. In addition, the facility houses the Cedar Rapids-based team of Travero Logistics, the freight brokerage and third-party logistics services division of Travero, to give customers the added convenience of an experienced full-service logistics partner at the same location.
