The Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility Returns to the World Economic Forum in Davos With a Message of Inclusion and Belonging

The Washington-based organization will deliver thought leadership on multiple perimeter panels and sessions in Davos while calling for greater Hispanic inclusion in Corporate America

WASHINGTON, May 19, 2022 /3BL Media/ - The Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility (HACR) will once again bring its message of The Power of Hispanic Inclusion™ to the world stage with its participation in the 2022 World Economic Forum events perimeter meetings in Davos, Switzerland. The global gathering takes place May 22-26, 2022. The World Economic Forum brings together thousands of global leaders to address the many challenges facing our societies. The gathering regularly attracts Fortune 1000 CEOs, global thought leaders, and representatives from the highest levels of government.

HACR President and CEO, Cid Wilson, will return to Davos for the fourth consecutive time and will be a speaker and panelist for the third consecutive time. HACR’s Davos participation started in January 2018 with an unsolicited visit to the event to inject Hispanic inclusion into the global dialog where it was historically nonexistent, despite the well-documented economic influence and talent contributions by Latinos. Since then, HACR pioneered the strategy of advancing Hispanic inclusion in Corporate America by engaging with corporate CEOs and executive leaders of U.S. companies in global gatherings that historically lack diversity and inclusion.

“Sometimes you have to create space at the table by pulling up your own chair,” Wilson said. “I’m proud that HACR will be visibly present in Davos to elevate our message, almost literally from the mountaintop, that the U.S. Hispanic community is a global economic force. Our message is clear that Corporate America must do more to increase Hispanic inclusion to levels that are commensurate to our economic contributions and overall growth.”

Despite comprising nearly one-fifth of the US population, Latino individuals accounted for only four percent of large U.S. companies’ most senior executives in 2020, according to HACR’s 2021 Corporate Inclusion Index™ report. Additionally, only 4.1% of all Fortune 500 corporate board seats are held by Latinos, of which only 1.0% of board seats held by Latinas, according to the The Missing Pieces Report: The Board Diversity Census of Women and Minorities On Corporate Boards, a multiyear study organized by the Alliance for Board Diversity (ABD), in collaboration with Deloitte. HACR will highlight these and many other cases for inclusion throughout the week during the World Economic Forum.

HACR is teaming up with We Are All Human Foundation for the third consecutive time to co-host an activation in Davos titled, “U.S. Hispanics as a Pivotal Component of Your Globalization Strategy”. The two organizations will present the case for Hispanic diversity, equity, and inclusion as a smart business strategy that can be superior to a company’s globalization strategy. US Latinos embody the two most widely spoken languages and cultural perspectives in the Western Hemisphere and hold growing and significant economic power. Conference attendees are invited to take part on Wednesday, May 25^th from 5:15 to 6:30 pm local time at the Microsoft Café, Promenade 101, Davos Dorf, Switzerland.

Additionally, HACR will make the case for Latina empowerment with its participation in two discussions hosted and livestreamed by The Female Quotient in the Equality Lounge at Davos. HACR’s Vice President of Strategic Engagement and Initiatives, Yai Vargas, will be a panelist in an Equality Lounge session titled, “How Reskilling Might Lead to Gender Parity in the Future of Work.” The session will take place on Tuesday, May 24 from 8:00am-8:30am ET (2pm CET).

Wilson will participate the following day, May 25, in an Equality Lounge session titled, “From Resignation to Retention: The Competitive Advantage of Purpose”, from 4:00am-4:30 am ET (10am CET). The World Economic Forum (WEF) is an international non-governmental organization based in Switzerland and founded in 1971 by Swiss national, Klaus Schwab. This is the first WEF Annual Meeting to take place in person since January 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The theme of this year’s annual meeting is “History at a Turning Point: Government Policies and Business Strategies”.
