About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Pypeline Launches A 40% More Cost-Effective BDR-As-A-Service Model For Start-Ups

London-based Pypeline, a leading provider of outsourcing services for technology start-ups, has recently expanded its suite of services and rolled out a new outsourcing model known as BDR-As-A-Service. BDR stands for Business Development Representative and a BDR plays a critical role for start-ups as they are tasked with lead generation. Proactively engaging prospective buyers and scheduling initial sales meetings that can be closed by senior sales team members.

BDR-As-A-Service is a subscription-based service that places Pypeline’s very own BDRs in the office of their clients to support the sales efforts for a fixed term (typically 12 months). The service gives businesses a cost-effective way to generate more sales meetings, ultimately leading to more revenue and faster growth.

“As the world of technology grows increasingly competitive, start-ups are fighting tooth and nail to find the best talent on the market. The talent that will enable them to succeed” said Orrin Jolley, Founder of Pypeline. “Unfortunately, with the market driving salaries to all-time highs, many start-ups are paying over the odds and more than they can afford to get these teams up and running. Pypeline’s new BDR-As-A-Service offering will level the playing field and allow great businesses to, not just survive, but thrive in current market conditions.”

Pypeline is focusing on reducing the overall cost to launch and maintain sales functions. Start-ups continue to spend a huge amount annually on their sales reps and this continues to increase. The average annual cost-per-rep of a BDR in 2022, factoring in the cost of salaries, commissions, benefits, hardware, software and data procurement, can easily land north of £80,000.

A team of six BDRs plus one manager will cost a start-up (on average) £600,000 per year, which is why so many start-ups are looking for progressive solutions to bring this cost down without sacrificing effectiveness.

Through 2023, Pypeline will continue its focus on bringing the most innovative BDR outsourcing solutions for start-ups based in the UK. They work with businesses across multiple industries but its offerings are best suited to start-ups that want to achieve fast growth but need to do this in a lean fashion.
