About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Activists Who Have Stood Up for The LGBT Community

In recent years, the LGBT community has faced an increase in discrimination and violence. Many people have come out in support of the LGBT community during this tough time. These individuals have etched their names into the LGBTQ+ Movements.

The right route always begins with a first step, which is frequently done by very daring people who disagree with the current situation. Here are a few folks that have been standing up for this community's support without even thinking about their safety. We can surely say that progress in terms of rights has been witnessed as a result of their hard work and continuous efforts. Take a look at this list, which includes the names of some of the most wonderful and courageous people.

Lisa Powers

Lisa Powers is a fighter for sexual health and LGBT rights in the United Kingdom. In 1988, she was appointed Secretary-General of the International Lesbian and Gay Association, and she was instrumental in the formation of the Pink Paper (A UK publication addressing gay and lesbian issues). In 1989, she co-founded Stonewall (named after the 1969 riots) and later became the Terrence Higgins Trust's policy director. She collaborated with Dan Vo and the National Museum Cardiff to establish 'Queer Tours' in 2020, to uncover hidden LGBTQ+ histories in Cardiff. She is the chairwoman of the HIV Justice Network and the organizer of Pride History Month at Pride Cymru.

Todd Emerson

Todd Emerson is an LGBT rights activist based in Mississippi and is one of the most notable supporters of the LGBT rights movement. He founded the Ocean Spring Pride March in 1993 as the first grassroots organizer. He is also a founder of GL Friendly and a member of the Mississippi Gay and Lesbian Task Force and the South Mississippi Aid Task Force.

Being a gay man himself, it's never been easy for Emerson but his commitment is unquestionable, as he has fought relentlessly to enhance the rights of LGBT people all around the world.

Mima Simi

Mima Simi is a writer, cinema critic, and LGBTQ activist from Croatia. She uses comedy and creativity to start a conversation in her nation about LGBTQ rights, seeing popular culture as a method to promote equality and improve visibility for LGBTQ individuals. Simi, along with Aher, attended the Human Rights Campaign's Global Innovative Advocacy Summit last year, where she shared her unique experiences and techniques with other equality activists from around the world. She has undoubtedly made a huge impact on many people who were not in support of LGBT rights before.

The 'discipline' of LGBT rights is still relatively new. Despite this, substantial progress has been made in terms of equality, respect, and acceptance, with activists such as Todd Emerson, Mima Simi, and Lisa Powers to thank. These people have fought a long and hard battle throughout their lives, and the results are very clear.
