About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Following its first commercial success, Groundbreaking trials at Technion Laboratories Confirm TurboGen TG40’s Hydrogen Combustion Capabilities

Following its first commercial success, Groundbreaking trials at Technion Laboratories Confirm TurboGen TG40's Hydrogen Combustion Capabilities

Petah Tikva, Israel - May 27th, 2024 - TurboGen (TASE: TURB), a leading developer of multi-fuel hybrid micro-turbines, is thrilled to announce that following the successful deployment of its first commercial installation, a series of groundbreaking tests conducted at the Technion Institute of Technology have provided scientific validation of the company's TG40 system's ability to operate efficiently and with high performance on hydrogen-methane fuel blends.

The trials, conducted under the supervision of a research team led by Professor Beni Chukurel from the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering at the Technion, demonstrated excellent operational stability of the TG40's combustor across a range of fuel mixtures, from 100% methane (natural gas) to a 50% methane-50% hydrogen blend. These impressive results were achieved thanks to the innovative Rich Quench Lean (RQL) combustor design, with no signs of flashback, premature auto-ignition, or durability issues. Moreover, a significant reduction in carbon monoxide (CO) emission levels was observed as the hydrogen concentration in the fuel blend increased.

These promising test results are following the positive report, CFD (Computer Fluid Dynamics), performed by SWRI. The successful completion of these trials, following the initial commercial success of the TG40 system, reinforces TurboGen's position as a leader in the development of advanced micro-turbine technology for distributed power generation.

Based on the test results and the success of its first commercial installation, TurboGen anticipates that the TG40 system will offer its customers an efficient, reliable, and environmentally friendly solution for distributed power generation, leveraging the environmental benefits of hydrogen as a green energy source.

Prof. Joseph Lefkowitz and Prof. Beni Cukurel from the Aerospace Engineering Department of Technion-IIT, noted: "The experiments conducted in the Turbomachinery and Heat Transfer Laboratory indicate that the combustor of Turbogen's TG40 system can operate efficiently and with low emissions in a broad range of hydrogen-methane mixtures, owing to its innovative design. This is a significant advancement in the path towards a more widespread use of hydrogen as a clean fuel in distributed power generation systems."

The company will continue to develop its technology and expand collaborations with leading research institutions like the Technion to promote the use of renewable energy and contribute to the reduction of harmful emissions.

TurboGen believes that the demand for hydrogen-powered micro-turbine systems is expected to grow significantly in the coming years, driven by the global trend towards a low-carbon energy production and the increasing demand for clean energy solutions. The company sees a significant business opportunity in this market and will leverage its unique technological expertise and proven commercial success to capture a substantial market share.
