“21st Century American Small Town” by Mohammed Hoque has been released worldwide. This 224-page novel follows three distinct individuals, a reporter, an FBI agent, and an incarcerated math teacher, each living parallel lives in a small town in upstate New York. Going about their daily routines and unaware of one another’s existence and, they all share a passion for making their small town a better place. Over the course of the story, their lives become intertwined in unexpected ways.

Written in short chapters that alternate among the characters’ perspectives, the novel explores the inner thoughts of three unique individuals and the different outlooks they hold. The small sections and brisk pace keep readers engaged while the story’s setting, the fictional little city of Nelson, NY, provides a backdrop that reminds them that in small towns, there’s often more going on than meets the eye.

Inspired by his own life in a similar American small town, as well as his background as an immigrant and experiences working various jobs throughout the American northeast, Hoque paints a portrait of community and depth in a place typically overlooked by much of the world. About the author:

The author was born in Queens, NY to two Bangladeshi immigrants. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Information Science and Policy from the University of Albany in Albany, NY. He currently is a Small Business Owner in Upstate New York. His first written work is 21st Century American Small Town. It is a realistic fiction novella that touches on how complicated human relations are in the context of an urban environment in the United States.
