About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Bat City Scaregrounds Marks Fifth Season With Live Music, Three Haunted Houses, and Immersive Performers

The outdoor, festival-style venue operates select nights in October with timed entry, free on-site parking, and fast pass options. General admission typically covers all three houses. Bat City Scaregrounds, the multi-attraction Halloween park serving the greater Austin area, is celebrating its fifth season with three haunted houses, a live in-character band on a raised stage, aerial performances, and roaming actors across an open-air midway in Buda, Texas.

Located at 14101 S. Turnersville Rd., Bat City Scaregrounds operates on select nights through October with timed entry. General admission commonly includes all three haunted houses. A fast pass option is available on busier dates. On-site gravel parking is free. The venue does not allow alcohol.

“Once I finished graduate school, I felt a strong urge to focus my creative talents in a practical way to build something epic. I’ve always been an interdisciplinary artist and huge fan of horror and haunted houses, so it felt natural to go that route. Halloween theme parks like Bat City Scaregrounds and Nightmare on 19th Street allow my production team and I to be creative in several ways (audio, set design, makeup/FX, etc) which definitely suits my personality,” said Corey Trehan, owner of Bat City Scaregrounds.

“Originally, my parks were an open canvas to creatively explore and collaborate with other artists, but the experience of operating them through the years has become something more. While the artistic elements are still there, seeing thousands of people enjoying themselves at my parks has been such a positive experience. Being able to create core, positive memories for people during the Halloween season has been a primary motivation and the most wonderful experience so far,” Trehan said.

Why it stands out

Now in its fifth year, Bat City Scaregrounds blends theatrical scares with show-driven atmosphere. A band performs in character throughout the evening so guests hear and see the set while they queue. Roaming actors keep the mood high between houses. Inside the attractions, sound design and 3D elements are used with intention to support immersion, not just single-beat jump scares.

Media and collaboration inquiries

Local outlets, creators, and community partners are invited to pitch collaboration ideas for review. Please email a short description, preferred timing, and contact details. The team will review with Corey and respond promptly.
