About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Feline Health Non-Profit EveryCat Health Foundation Launches Campaign for Heart Disease Research

Feline Health Non-Profit EveryCat Health Foundation Launches Campaign for Heart Disease Research
A non-profit dedicated to advancing feline health
The 2025 ‘Springing Into Action for The Ricky Fund™’ campaign runs through April 30

EveryCat Health Foundation (http://www.everycat.org), a non-profit dedicated to advancing feline health by supporting a variety of research and education initiatives, has launched a fundraiser to benefit cats suffering from feline hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM)—the most common form of heart disease in cats. The 2025 “Springing Into Action for The Ricky Fund™” campaign takes place until April 30.

A highlight of EveryCat’s commitment to feline heart health is its premier “Springing Into Action” activity: the “Health Breakthroughs for EveryCat: Focusing on Future Therapies for Feline Heart Disease and Beyond” symposium on April 26–27.

“We are proud to continue supporting HCM research, and educating pet owners about the illness,” said EveryCat's Executive Director, Jackie Ott Jaakola. “Since its inception, EveryCat has raised over $332,000 for The Ricky Fund™, and has provided grants for 38 HCM-related studies. Our generous donors are contributing to vital research that will help the heart health of cats around the world.”

EveryCat is hosting this premier conference in partnership with the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine. During the event, pet parents and veterinarians alike will come together to discuss the impact of this disease and new, exciting treatment options that are becoming available.

Pet parents (and any feline fan) are invited to attend online for free to learn about the disease. Register here today.

All proceeds from the “Springing Into Action” campaign will benefit The Ricky Fund™, which was created by nationally-syndicated pet columnist and EveryCat Board member Steve Dale, CABC, in honor of his beloved, piano-playing cat Ricky. Ricky died from HCM at four, after his veterinarian discovered the cat had a heart murmur. HCM occurs when the walls of the heart become abnormally thick, and it affects one in seven cats.

EveryCat will also raise money for The Ricky Fund™ during the “Heart-to-Heart” Luncheon on May 24th from 12:30 to 3:30 at Caffe Aldo Lamberti in Cherry Hill, NJ. This event is being organized by a donor honoring her own cat that succumbed to HCM many years ago. The Luncheon will include Steve Dale, CABC, as keynote speaker, and is open to the public. Ticket purchase or donations can be made through the above Heart-to-Heart Luncheon link.
