About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Shane Krauser Joins Alan Korwin as Coauthor of The Arizona Gun Owner’s Guide

Shane Krauser is a former violent crimes prosecutor, an adjunct professor of criminal law, and nationally-renowned firearms instructor.

The Arizona Gun Owner’s Guide has been a bestselling book on gun rights, possession and use since 1989. Alan Korwin, one of the nation’s leading Second Amendment experts, is the principal author and has kept this guide current with each passing legislative session, both federally and at the state level, for more than 30 years.

Before the release of The Arizona Gun Owner's Guide, the nation had only arcane legalese and confusing cross-referenced statutes from which to decipher rules for gun ownership. Abuse was rampant, ignorance was everywhere, the situation was a mess. The Arizona book was a milestone. Soon after the Arizona book was published, entrepreneurs in other states picked up on the idea, and at least 37 similar volumes were issued, many coached along by Alan Korwin.

“Ever since 1989, the state of Arizona has relied upon The Arizona Gun Owner’s Guide to light the way for the public with concise, plain-English descriptions of our gun laws. It’s been important so armed citizens could do the right thing, act honorably and know they were within the bounds of the law while peacefully bearing arms. Before my work, people — including legislators and law-enforcement authorities — had only vague or often inaccurate ideas of what those laws are. We changed that for the better,” said Alan Korwin.

Entering into the book’s 28th edition, Shane Krauser has joined Korwin as a coauthor. Krauser brings credibility and experience that will allow The Arizona Gun Owner’s Guide to maintain its bestselling status.

Shane Krauser spent more than a decade prosecuting violent crimes with the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, worked as an adjunct professor of criminal law, and taught at two different police academies in Arizona. His knowledge of weapons, their utility, and the laws surrounding justification is vast and is a welcomed addition to Korwin’s labor of love.

“I’m delighted to pass that responsibility to an individual eminently qualified to carry that torch, attorney and former Maricopa County prosecutor, Shane Krauser. A constitutional-law expert and firearms instructor with a substantial following, Shane has agreed to take over publishing the book through his Gilbert-based firm, Hilltop Press. I’m confident he will do a first-rate job and he deserves your support, as you have so generously bestowed on me,” noted Alan Korwin.

hane Krauser, the author of two additional books, emphasized that “the laws involving the use of force can be complicated. If one possesses or owns a weapon, it is incumbent upon them to really understand what the law allows, as our safety and protection depend on it. I’m honored to take on this important project that has been the frontrunner of Second Amendment education nationwide.”

The Arizona Gun Owner’s Guide is available in both physical and ebook format and can be purchased at AZGunGuide.com. The physical book runs $19.95 and bulk discounts are available. The ebook costs $9.95.
