About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

UU Worldwide Youth Network Announces International Expansion Efforts Following Unitarian General Assembly

UU Worldwide Youth Network (UUWYN), based in Hartford, CT, has announced plans to expand its international youth engagement efforts following participation in the Unitarian Universalist General Assembly in June 2025.

Hartford, CT - July 10, 2025 - The UU Worldwide Youth Network (UUWYN), https://uuwyn.org/ an emerging initiative focused on international youth exchange and interfaith engagement, has announced new efforts to broaden its presence in Asia and other international regions. The announcement follows the group’s recent participation in the 2025 General Assembly of the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA), held in Baltimore, Maryland.

Founded with the aim of fostering global connections among all of Unitarian Universalist youth and young adults, UUWYN is developing programming that includes cultural exchanges, youth conferences, and service-learning opportunities. According to its website, the organization is working to build international partnerships and strengthen interfaith understanding through youth-led collaboration.

“Our involvement in the General Assembly allowed us to connect with many like-minded individuals and organizations interested in global engagement,” said Shahan Islam, founder of UUWYN and Director of Religious Education at The Unitarian Society of Hartford. “As a result, we are expanding conversations with individuals and groups in South Asia and Europe to support youth leadership and cross-cultural experiences.”

In conjunction with these efforts, UUWYN has welcomed new members to its advisory group, including Bruce Knotts, a former U.S. diplomat and former Executive Director of the Unitarian Universalist United Nations Office (UU-UNO), and Rumni Saha, a longtime educator and interfaith chaplain based in Massachusetts. Both individuals bring experience in international advocacy, community engagement, and interfaith collaboration.

UUWYN’s advisory group UUWYN Advisory Group – UUWYN now includes members from North America, Europe, and South Asia. Among them are Reverend Norbert Nagy of the Hungarian Unitarian Church, Finn Prem of the German Unitarian youth organization (BeuJ), and Alyssa McDonald of Hartford, Connecticut. The group is currently in the early planning stages for an interfaith youth conference anticipated to take place in Transylvania in mid-2026.

“Our advisory team represents a blend of experience and emerging leadership,” said Islam. “The goal is to provide youth with opportunities to engage across borders and share values rooted in inclusion, service, and community.”

While UUWYN remains in its formative years, its leadership emphasizes the importance of international cooperation among Unitarian Universalist communities and beyond. As global engagement becomes an increasing priority within the faith, initiatives like UUWYN are seeking to play a supportive role in shaping future connections.
