About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

5 Do-it-Yourself Concrete Solutions For National Curb Appeal Month

HAMILTON, ON / ACCESSWIRE / July 28, 2022 / In August, homeowners embarking on DIY projects can add both curb appeal and increased value to their home exterior. During National Curb Appeal Month, experts at Daich Coatings offer several cost-effective ways to improve the exterior of a home.

"If you can paint, then you can roll on ways to improve the appearance of your concrete walkway, driveway, steps and porch," says Peter Daich, president of Daich Coatings. "These easy projects make a big first impression on your friends and neighbors. It's a fast way to step up the look of your property at a price that won't bust a budget."

For more than 20 years Daich Coatings has offered a variety of real stone coating solutions. Each product is made of a selected mix of stone in a specialized bonding polymer. "These are not concrete paints," says Daich. "These products provide a durable, beautiful finish with proven long-term performance against extreme cold temperatures, soaring heat, UV rays and severe weather conditions. Everything needed to add lasting curb appeal to a home."

Project #1

For the authentic look of tile or natural stone, the SpreadStone Decorative Concrete Resurfacing Kit has unique appeal. A specialized applicator for achieving stunning decorative results is included, making it easy for anyone to apply. The versatile pre-mixed real stone coating resists cracks, impact, abrasions and chemicals.

The product rolls on easily over a primed seamless or stenciled surface. After the first coat dries, a second coat in a different color may be applied to create a unique color distinction.

A kit covering 100 square feet is available for $144.95; kits covering 400 square feet sell for $490. Available in five finishes: Lake Rock, Cold Gold Slate, Midnight Slate, Sun Ledge and Summit Grey.

Project #2

Cover ugly, blotchy concrete sidewalk and porch surfaces with two coats of TracSafe® Anti-Slip Color Coat in Graphite, Shell Grey, Cream, Clay Brick or Terracotta. The light stone speckle sparkles in the sunshine. Then finish off with two light coats of TracSafe® Anti-Slip Sealer for a safe, anti-slip surface.

"By starting with the color coating, you add a beautiful, uniformly-colored finish to a surface," says Daich. "Finishing it off with the clear sealer protects the coating from dirt, water and chemicals, and adds another level of slip-resistance to the ground."
