About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Marquis Who's Who Honors Nicholas La Rosa for Civil Engineering Expertise

UNIONDALE, NY / ACCESS Newswire / September 17, 2025 / Marquis Who's Who honors Nicholas La Rosa for his expertise in civil engineering and specialization in project management and land surveying. With nearly a decade of professional experience, Mr. La Rosa has established himself as a notable figure in his field, contributing significantly to the company Fehr Graham as a civil engineer.

Mr. La Rosa has been interested in civil engineering from a young age. Whenever his family traveled or went on vacation, he observed construction projects along the road. In middle school, he participated in the I Have a Plan Iowa program, and the connection between the related projects and civil engineering became clear.

The Journey to Becoming a Civil Engineer

In 2016, Mr. La Rosa participated in a land surveyor internship through Fehr Graham in Manchester, Iowa. He continued to find internship opportunities as he pursued a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Iowa State University. Additionally, Mr. La Rosa completed engineering internships at PCL Construction in Cadiz, Kentucky, in 2017 and in Georgetown, South Carolina, in 2018.

Mr. La Rosa returned to Fehr Graham as an engineering intern in 2018 and continued in that capacity until he received his bachelor's degree and certificate in leadership studies at Iowa State University in 2021. Upon graduating, Mr. La Rosa was appointed to a full-time civil engineer position at Fehr Graham, a role he still occupies today. Since becoming a civil engineer, he has built innovative solutions that benefit communities across Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin.

Civic Involvement and Memberships

Outside of his professional career, Mr. La Rosa is actively involved in several civic and membership organizations, including AMPT (Advancing Modern Professionals for Tomorrow), Parks & Recreation Commission, and the Society of Land Surveyors of Iowa. He is also the president of his local Rotary Club. Through these organizations, Mr. La Rosa is able to connect with community members and leaders in his field.

Staying at the Forefront of Engineering

To stay abreast of developments in the civil engineering industry, Mr. La Rosa is always learning. With the rise of artificial intelligence technology and accessible drones, Mr. La Rosa's land surveying work is shifting rapidly. However, equipped with the right technology, he is able to gather essential information about new projects more effectively and develop solutions.

Mr. La Rosa attributes his success to his dedication to learning and his mentors, who were willing to spend extra time with him, motivate him and encourage him to learn more. Their efforts greatly benefited him as he moved forward in his career. Mr. La Rosa notes that finding the right people is a key component to achieving success.

Plans for the Future

In the next five to three years, Mr. La Rosa plans to obtain his professional engineering license and survey license, which will better equip him to navigate the industry and drive innovation in his field. He has already made significant progress in his career and is positioned to maintain this momentum.
