About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Marquis Who's Who Honors Rebecca L. Gulaskey for Expertise in Materials Engineering

UNIONDALE, NY / ACCESS Newswire / September 17, 2025 / Marquis Who's Who honors Rebecca L. Gulaskey for her expertise in process, packaging and materials engineering. As senior director, global product supply internal communications manager, home care packaging and eCommerce packaging leader for Procter & Gamble, Ms. Gulaskey led a global team responsible for troubleshooting material machine interactions, process improvements and new material qualifications.

Ms. Gulaskey's leadership and skillful application of her talents have brought cost-efficiency and innovation to the company's delivery and materials engineering processes. Her efforts have helped drive significant cost savings of over half a billion dollars through clever design changes, as well as tariff and other supply chain cost reductions.

A Foundational Education and Early Career

Ms. Gulaskey earned a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering and a public policy degree from Carnegie Mellon University's College of Engineering in 1996. She later received a Master of Business Administration from Xavier University in 2005, allowing her to blend her technical knowledge of engineering with solid business acumen.

Ms. Gulaskey began her career at Procter & Gamble in 1996 as a fabric and home care engineer. In this position, she was able to put her education into practice by designing late product differentiation systems at two separate plants. Over the next 12 years, she would develop her skills in process engineering, setting the foundation for her advancement in the company's ranks.

Building a Name for Herself

After graduating from Xavier University, Ms. Gulaskey took on a role as the company's Middle East and Africa fabric engineering director and Cairo hub leader, relocating with her children while her husband remained in Cincinnati due to business commitments. From 2008 to 2011, she managed complex assignments in Egypt, Nigeria, Morocco and Saudi Arabia, while essentially inhabiting the role of a single mother. However, her children developed resilience as a result and became quite well-traveled. Ms. Gulaskey is grateful for the experiences that shaped her children into the people they are today.

In 2011, Ms. Gulaskey became the company's North America home care packaging materials, process and delivery (MPD) leader. Having subsequently moved on to a more senior and global role in oral care within the same MPD discipline, she helped save the company over half of $1 billion over the past decade through cost avoidance measures and design changes to packages and products. These savings increase Procter & Gamble's profits, a portion of which is reinvested to support the company's innovation programs and enhance the lives of consumers with superior products.

A Future in Inspiration

Having recently retired from her role at Procter & Gamble, Ms. Gulaskey has launched two new companies - Inspire Right, which specializes in executive communications, inspirational speaking and corporate retreats, and Design Right, which works in the engineering consultation and process improvement solution spaces. She also aims to take a greater role at her spouse's business, Retire Right Wealth Management, as it seeks to expand into the areas of commercial space investment, as well as tax and insurance solutions.

Equipped with decades of experience and a wealth of knowledge, Ms. Gulaskey hopes to inspire others to face adversity and motivate them through her speaking engagements. Additionally, she intends to resume teaching fitness, which will provide her with another avenue to help people be the best they can be.
