About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Marquis Who's Who Honors Christopher R. Bennett as a Top Professional

UNIONDALE, NY / ACCESS Newswire / September 9, 2025 / Marquis Who's Who honors Christopher R. Bennett as a Top Professional for his leadership in civil engineering. With 25 years of experience in his profession, Mr. Bennett leverages expertise in stormwater management and flood prevention and resilience to ensure the safety of projects and local communities. As vice president of CES Consultants, he helps firms succeed in meaningful work.

Before beginning his professional career, Mr. Bennett pursued a degree in civil engineering. He first completed coursework at Northern Arizona University from 1996 to 1997, then earned a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering with a minor in mathematics through the University of Alaska Anchorage in 2000. Additionally, he is certified as a stormwater operator at levels I and II and as a professional engineer.

A Professional Career in Engineering and Business

Following his graduation in 2000, Mr. Bennett joined WHPacific Inc., formerly ASCG Incorporated, as a junior engineer, subsequently becoming a senior engineer at Craven Thompson & Associates Inc. three years later. In 2013, he became a project manager II for the City of Fort Lauderdale and was appointed senior project manager the next year. By 2016, he was an assistant city engineer for Fort Lauderdale.

After a three-year tenure in this role, Mr. Bennett transitioned to work as assistant director and deputy chief resilience officer for the Department of Resilience & Public Works at the City of Miami. By 2022, he returned to the City of Fort Lauderdale as assistant director of public works. Mr. Bennett most recently joined CES Consultants in 2025 as vice president and mid-market regional business line leader. In this role, he drives business development in Broward County, manages key projects, and develops and maintains client relationships with local municipalities.

A Notable Achievement

One of Mr. Bennett's proudest accomplishments was leading his firm's first major construction, engineering and inspection contract for Fort Lauderdale, a $14 million comprehensive infrastructure upgrade for an underserved neighborhood. Despite the scale and complexity, he was able to manage the project from a remote office, completing it on time and within budget. This effort not only proved his technical skill but also that he could be a successful leader even in difficult situations.

Membership Involvement and Philanthropy

Mr. Bennett is also actively involved in several membership organizations. These include the American Society of Civil Engineers, the American Public Works Association, the Florida Stormwater Association, the Water Environment Federation and the Florida Water Environment Association, among others. As part of these groups, he maintains close ties with the engineering community.

Aside from his career, another important aspect of Mr. Bennett's life has been his sponsorship of various local cancer societies. Prompted by his grandfather's passing from cancer, Mr. Bennett has quietly contributed to cancer organizations over the years in an effort to honor his memory. While he wishes he could do more, he values the personal connection gained from these contributions.

Plans for the Future

Moving forward, Mr. Bennett aims to apply his engineering expertise to a public-service-oriented mindset. He intends to grow in the private sector as a consultant who prioritizes quality, ethical practices and community impact. By helping other individuals and firms achieve the same goals, Mr. Bennett reflects a genuine care for the public he serves.
