About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Marquis Who's Who Honors Darby Vaughn for Expertise in Heat Transfer Systems

UNIONDALE, NY / ACCESS Newswire / September 9, 2025 / Marquis Who's Who honors Darby Vaughn for expertise in heat transfer systems. A respected professional in his field, Mr. Vaughn is the owner of Permian Radiator in San Angelo, Texas, which offers comprehensive frac equipment repair and maintenance.

About Mr. Vaughn

Mr. Vaughn's family has a long history in the industry, having established a radiator shop in 1946. Mr. Vaughn jokes that he was born behind the solder pot. The radiator shop passed from his grandfather to his uncle before being sold out of the family. At that point, he decided to move on from the old family business and worked down the road at Ken's Radiator Shop.

Mr. Vaughn worked for five years at this radiator shop before the owner decided to sell. Mr. Vaughn purchased it and later founded Permian Radiator Service and Supply, a state-of-the-art shop in Hobbs, New Mexico, that could handle larger equipment. Later, he would open a branch in San Angelo, Texas, called Permian Radiator Texas LLC, again building a shop capable of handling radiators of all sizes and configurations.

While his expertise was built with hands-on experience from growing up in the family business, Mr. Vaughn also pursued formal education in CAD, drafting and small business management at New Mexico Junior College to complement his practical knowledge.

It has always been Mr. Vaughn's practice to reinvest back into his company. He understands the importance of building his clientele by proving his expertise and capability of solving their issues and fulfilling their needs. Since he had observed the family business from a young age, he knew business success would require much effort. This meant working long hours and eschewing things in life like going to the beach. But he knew that business success would eventually lead to the ability to enjoy days off.

"If you're not dedicated enough to work on it every waking hour, you can expect setbacks. I don't call that a struggle - I call that drive," Mr. Vaughn says. "I'm blessed. I can go to the beach every once in a while, now, but right at first, I didn't."

Hard Work Pays Off

Having spent most of his life in the heat transfer industry, Mr. Vaughn has witnessed numerous changes within it. He believes that his ability to adapt has been the key to the survival of his business. It's his commitment to excellence, efficiency and customer satisfaction that has driven him forward in growing his company. His services at Permian Radiator have expanded to include oil coolers, tube-and-shell, air-to-fluid, air-to-air CACs, EGR coolers and fans to hydraulic fan drives of all configurations.

Mr. Vaughn has worked hard throughout his life and has built a network of reliable vendors that enable him to provide timely service to his clients. His clientele ranges from West Texas to Louisiana, from South Texas to Oklahoma and includes clients in Pennsylvania, New Mexico and North Dakota, as well.

"My biggest accomplishment is having repeat customers. I'm dedicated to my business. I'm a problem solver and have a proven track record of going to any lengths to resolve issues," Mr. Vaughn says.

For those starting in any industry, Mr. Vaughn's advice is to get hard at work because success doesn't happen by itself. Work, dedication to his clients, the support of his family, his faith and his belief in doing his best have been the attributes that set the foundation for his success. "I am blessed to have a beautiful and virtuous wife. We're a God-fearing couple who focus on spirituality and family. While my employees deserve a lot of credit for their hard work, I give God all the glory for the business's success," Mr. Vaughn says.
