About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

World-leading peace activist shares her insights in new podcast interview

Global peace advocate Dr Scilla Elworthy has shared her insights on how we can all work towards a peaceful future on a leading podcast.
The founder of The Business Plan for Peace, who has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize three times, is the latest guest on The Change Show with Simon Phillips. The podcast aims to inspire listeners to make positive changes both in their own lives and the world around them.
Host Simon Phillips started the show to help people navigate change and he regularly interviews expert guests who share their own tips and strategies. In this new episode, Dr Elworthy shares her own journey of confronting violence with dialogue and understanding and talks about how we can work towards creating a world where peace is possible.
Simon says: “It was a real honour to interview Scilla and hear her views on the importance of purpose and compassion in the shadow of the global challenges we all face. The way too that Scilla explained the importance of empathy in resolving conflicts and fostering collaboration, aligns closely with the themes of my own work and the upcoming talk with Renée Smith on “Leading with Love.”
Dr Elworthy founded the Oxford Research Group in 1982 to open up effective dialogue on nuclear weapons between both policy makers and campaigners. She was awarded the Niwano Peace Prize in 2003 and was instrumental in the creation of The Elders, a group of high profile peace activists, acting as an adviser to Richard Branson and Peter Gabriel.
Her latest book The Mighty Heart aims to help readers learn to resolve conflict at all levels of their lives, including with themselves, their family and within the workplace.
Simon adds: “Scilla’s work towards creating sustainable peace is truly groundbreaking and I’m so pleased to be able to share her wisdom and insights with my audience. Our conversation is essential listening for anyone passionate about making a real impact in the world.”
The Change Show with Simon Phillips features leading change makers from around the globe and was the most listened to show globally on KLDR – the leadership development radio station. The episode featuring Dr Elworthy is available now on all major podcast platforms and at www.simonphillips.co.uk/podcast
Simon is the founder of the Change Maker Group and is on a mission to create a community of one million people who pledge to make a positive impact on the world around them. He is also a finalist in the Purpose Entrepreneur of the Year category in this year’s Great British Entrepreneur Awards.
