About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Courage Under Fire Gala Honors the Legacy of Faith and Family Formation, May 22–23 in Nashville

With the future of faith-based family life under siege in today’s culture, the Courage Under Fire Gala offers a bold response: form families, empower parents, and raise leaders rooted in truth. The event will be held May 22–23, 2025, at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville, and will highlight the power of Catholic formation through the family, where leadership begins.

This two-day event supports Regina Caeli Academy (RCA), a classical homeschool hybrid rooted in the Catholic tradition. RCA partners with parents as primary educators, offering a nationally accredited curriculum that blends in-person instruction with at-home formation. It is designed to support families in their mission to educate for Heaven, while excelling on Earth.

“Family is the first classroom and the domestic church,” said Alissa Walsh, Courage Under Fire Gala organizer. “At Regina Caeli, we recognize parents not only as caregivers, but as world-changers. They are forming the next generation of saints, scholars, and defenders of truth.”

From the Living Room to the Public Square

This year’s gala brings together national voices who model courageous leadership across family life, education, culture, and public witness. Each speaker offers a testimony of truth rooted in faith and lived through their vocation.

Attendees will hear from:

  • Mike Schmitz
Host of “The Bible in a Year” and “The Catechism in a Year,” Fr. Mike is a trusted voice for young adults and families alike, known for his dynamic preaching and spiritual clarity.
  • Kirk Cameron
Actor, filmmaker, and father of six, Cameron is a leading advocate for faith-based parenting and Christian education. His work includes “Fireproof,” “Lifemark,” and “The Homeschool Awakening.”
  • Matt Walsh
Cultural commentator and father of six, Walsh challenges modern narratives on family, gender, and identity. His films and books — including “What Is a Woman?” — have sparked national conversations.
  • Michael Knowles
Yale graduate and Catholic intellectual known for his media work defending virtue, speech, and the importance of fatherhood and formation. He is the author of “Speechless.”
  • Harrison Butker
Super Bowl champion and husband, Butker speaks passionately on the role of husbands, fathers, and men who lead with humility, purpose, and faith in Christ.

“Each of these speakers represents what’s possible when formation begins at home,” Walsh said. “They stand as witnesses to what happens when families lead with clarity — not compromise.”

Catholic Formation: The Blueprint for Legacy

Regina Caeli Academy offers families a unique model: students attend in-person classes twice a week and homeschool the remaining days. This rhythm protects the integrity of the home while strengthening the intellectual and spiritual life of the child.

The result is an educational sanctuary where virtue is lived, truth is taught, and students are equipped to transform the world.
