About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Commitment and Collaboration Helped Drive Timely Cloud Implementation of Insurity’s Policy Decisions Evolution for Columbia Insurance Group

The rapid migration to Insurity’s Policy Decisions Evolution enables Columbia Insurance Group to streamline access to third-party data sources, modernize their core system, and maintain a low total cost of ownership

Insurity, a leading provider of cloud-based software for property and casualty (P&C) carriers, brokers, and MGAs today announced that Columbia Insurance Group has successfully completed its migration to Insurity’s Policy Decisions Evolution across all lines of business. The migration’s speed is attributed to the collaboration between Insurity and Columbia, and overall commitment to deliver value quickly to Columbia’s 150,000 policyholders.

Columbia Insurance Group is a P&C carrier serving customers across 19 states in the Midwest and Southeast. They were looking to update their core systems across all lines of business while maintaining a low total cost of ownership. As a long-time customer with Insurity, the Policy Decisions Evolution’s proven platform was the immediate choice.

Thanks to the combined efforts from both Columbia and Insurity, the cloud implementation was completed on time. Policy Decisions Evolution will allow Columbia to build streamlined screens for agents, enhance customization, and enable APIs to seamlessly feed in third-party data for faster, more accurate quoting.

“We were pleased to collaborate with Insurity, our policy system partner for over 20 years, on this migration to Policy Decisions Evolution,” said Scott Mackey, SVP, Chief Underwriting Officer at Columbia Insurance Group. “With any implementation, it’s business critical to get up and running on time. There was a real sense of commitment from Insurity to come in and meet our deadline. I can’t say enough about the Insurity team’s dedication to working closely with the Columbia business and IT teams to ensure this was the smoothest, quickest migration we’ve ever had.”

“At the heart of every Insurity implementation is collaboration,” said Roy Wood, Chief Customer Officer of Insurity. “Columbia’s on-time cloud implementation of Policy Decisions Evolution will not only serve to build Columbia’s roadmap for future growth but is evidence of Insurity’s commitment to smooth and seamless migrations. The quicker we can get Columbia up and running, the more value it brings to their policyholders and agents.”
