About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Hotwire Global Communications launches Hotwire Into Tech Training Program for Communications and Marketing Professionals

Free online course that includes industry experts from Brightspot, Envoy, LinkedIn, and PRovoke Media prepares communications and marketing professionals for jobs in tech

Hotwire, the leading global technology communications consultancy part of Enero Group, has launched Hotwire Into Tech—an on-demand course for mid-to-senior marketing and communications professionals interested in transitioning to a job in technology. Enrollment is now open in the U.S. and course content will be available on February 15, 2022.

Technology continues to be one of the fastest-growing sectors of the economy. This growth has led to high demand for experienced marketing and communications professionals to fill business-critical positions in tech companies and tech-focused communications consultancies and agencies. This demand is currently met with limited supply, requiring a new approach to finding talent to fill the gap. At the same time, the need to increase diversity in tech communications and marketing, specifically in mid-upper management positions, has never been greater. Hotwire Into Tech is designed to address these challenges and provide interested professionals a pathway to transition into the technology sector.

“As the demand for tech marketing and communications professionals continues to grow, we need to find new ways to bring new and fresh talent into the industry,” said Heather Kernahan, Hotwire Global CEO. “We often see people who haven't worked in tech assuming that they aren't qualified, but that’s not the case. Hotwire Into Tech addresses this misconception and gives people a better understanding of the industry and how to land their dream job in tech.”

Hotwire Into Tech is a free skill building course that consists of three 30-minute segments designed to provide an overview of the tech industry, offer tips for how to get a job in tech, and share insights on what it’s really like to work in tech from leaders in the field. Hotwire has partnered with industry experts across communications, public relations, marketing, and media to lead the course modules. Instructors include Aarti Shah, a PR industry and media executive with PRovoke Media and Bill Detwiler, an award-winning tech journalist and editorial leader. In the final segment, Heather Kernahan, Global CEO, Hotwire is joined by three other tech industry leaders—Michael Kaye, Corporate Communications Manager at LinkedIn; April Marks, Director of Public Relations at Envoy; and Marcy Massura, CMO at Brightspot—who share their career journeys in and out of tech, with agencies, consultancies, and tech companies.

Enrollment is now open, and content will be available on-demand starting February 15, 2022. To find more information and to register visit hwintotech.com.
