About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Ziply Fiber Implements Neustar Trusted Call Solutions to Protect Subscribers and Restore Trust in the Phone Channel

Neustar robocall mitigation, call authentication and caller ID solutions aim to secure and elevate the call experience to help consumers trust and answer calls again

Neustar Inc., a global information services and technology company and leader in identity resolution, has implemented Trusted Call Solutions across the Ziply™ Fiber network to combat illegal robocalls, authenticate callers and accurately display caller IDs for a more secure, accurate and informed call experience.

Neustar Trusted Call Solutions enable Ziply Fiber to sign calls and manage end-to-end STIR/SHAKEN call authentication before the FCC’s TRACED Act implementation deadline of June 30, 2021, and secure their position within an ecosystem of trusted operators seeking to protect customers from unwanted and illegal robocalls and enhance the call experience across landline, mobile and VoIP devices. Ziply Fiber has implemented the following selection of Neustar Trusted Call Solutions across its Northwest U.S. network, serving customers throughout Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana:

  • Certified Caller offers automated caller identity validation by implementing the latest STIR/SHAKEN call authentication standards, allowing carriers to detect and flag illegally spoofed calls in real time to protect users from phone scams and support trusted communications.
  • Robocall Mitigation utilizes advanced call analytics, fraud modeling and numbering expertise to identify illegal calls originating in the network and stop them from reaching subscribers. The solution works alongside STIR/SHAKEN call authentication to identify unauthorized and suspicious use of phone numbers and detect trends and anomalies in calling patterns.
  • NumeriTrack consolidates telephone number inventory data into a single repository and automates the entire management process to eliminate discrepancies and redundancies and ensure accurate call attestation for STIR/SHAKEN authentication.
  • Caller Name Services offers quick access to the most reliable and extensive caller name and number database across the call ecosystem to ensure that caller IDs are accurately displayed.

“Ziply Fiber is committed to protecting its subscribers from illegal robocalls and caller ID spoofing, and providing a more informed and trustworthy call experience,” said Bambang Liem, CTO at Ziply Fiber. “Our partnership with Neustar is a major step toward addressing the growing requirement for a safer, more reliable call experience and seamlessly offering the reassurance our customers need to answer calls again.”

“In a world of robocalls and illegal call spoofing, consumers have spoken: they demand assurances and verified information if they are to trust callers beyond their personal contacts. Carriers like Ziply Fiber are integral in the movement to protect consumers, modernize the call experience and restore trust in the phone channel,” said James Garvert, senior vice president and general manager of Communications Solutions at Neustar. “We are pleased to offer our end-to-end suite of STIR/SHAKEN-compliant call authentication, call vetting and enhanced caller ID solutions to Ziply Fiber. These solutions will allow them to confidently and seamlessly enable trusted calls within their network and focus their efforts and resources on building their subscriber reach throughout the Northwest.”

Neustar is the industry leader in caller identification solutions, a co-author of the STIR standards, a key contributor to the SHAKEN framework and the exclusive operator of the ATIS Robocalling Testbed for SHAKEN/STIR implementations.
