About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Amazon Web Services Will Now Be Offered by Ingram Micro Platform in Mexico as Part of Global Expansion

Ingram Micro announced today the launch of Amazon Web Services (AWS) on the Ingram Micro Mexico Cloud Marketplace and will be distributing a full range of AWS solutions to its reseller network in Mexico, bolstering the offering of the world’s most comprehensive and broadly adopted set of cloud solutions.

Ingram Micro Cloud, an Advanced AWS Consulting Partner and AWS Distributor, announced its global Strategic Collaboration Agreement (SCA) with AWS in March. One of the central aims of the agreement is to drive the geographic reach and footprint of AWS and its partners. As part of this global expansion, Ingram Micro Cloud is now delivering a complete portfolio of AWS solutions to resellers in Mexico, as well as its recent launches in Australia and New Zealand. More global expansions will be announced in 2021. Ingram Micro’s large network of partners will see new opportunities to meet customer needs and expand their IaaS business as a result of the SCA with AWS.

José Antonio Morales, AWS Partner Lead for Latin America, affirmed that the alliance with Ingram Micro is strategic in driving both companies’ digital transformation, both technologically and mentally. “Both organizations decided to strengthen our alliance and jointly invest in Mexico so that our partners can have access to better programs and benefits,” he said. “In addition to understanding our customer-centric culture, they will be able to certify their teams and specialize in our 200+ solutions.”

“For over 12 years, Ingram Micro has been in the cloud business and it has been complemented by acquisitions and developed powerful and easy-to-use solutions. AWS comes to complement our offer of infrastructure and powerful strategic relationships which will allow us to develop different solutions to perform in different markets,” added Luis Férez, VP & CCE of Ingram Micro Mexico.

The Ingram Micro team and AWS kicked off a virtual launch event on May 4 to present exclusive services and offerings for local partners interested in building and scaling their AWS offerings. Executives from AWS and Ingram Micro talked about how the addition of these new services will help boost partner capabilities and allow them to deliver comprehensive solutions to solve unique business problems. The event garnered an overwhelming response and had more than double the amount of expected attendees.

Additionally, the collaboration will see both organizations work together to bolster Ingram Micro Cloud’s current skills and offerings, as well as develop new resources to support channel partners in managing end customers. Ingram Micro Cloud currently provides an AWS Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE) team with over 100+ AWS certifications, AWS Professional and Managed Services, AWS Well-Architected services, AWS Operations and Billing Services, and more.

Ingram Micro Cloud also covers a wide range of partner enablement and support initiatives to help AWS partners build a healthy AWS practice through partner programs like AWS Illuminate and ISV Activate, which provide end-to-end engagement models for Ingram Micro Cloud to enable SI Partners and ISVs through their journey in the cloud.
