About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Sontiq® Expands Executive Team With Cyber Insurance Veteran

Matt Cullina Joins Intelligent Identity Security Company as Part of Cyberscout Acquisition to Lead Global Insurance Business

Sontiq, the leader in Intelligent Identity Security, today announced the addition of Matt Cullina in the key role of head of global insurance business. Cullina joins the company from Cyberscout, a leader of cyber products and services for the insurance market which was acquired by Sontiq earlier this year.

Cullina steps into the position at a time when cyber insurance is taking on new importance. In the face of upward-trending cyber attacks that were accelerated by the pandemic, cyber insurance and services are expected to face rapidly growing demand, particularly in emerging markets such as small business and personal cyber coverage. Prior to serving as managing director of global markets at Cyberscout, Cullina was CEO of the company from 2008 to 2018. Under his leadership, Cyberscout expanded from a single product business serving a U.S. domestic market to a leading provider of personal and commercial cyber solutions to the international insurance industry.

With the Cyberscout acquisition, Sontiq deepened its ecosystem of intelligent identity security solutions to include cyber insurance. As part of the executive leadership team, Cullina will advance Sontiq’s strategy to continuously add new products and expertise, and drive global growth and strengthen strategic partnerships throughout the international insurance market.

“Matt has the distinctive expertise and a proven track record of success within the insurance industry,” said Brian J. Longe, President and CEO of Sontiq. “He has strong relationships within the insurance market, through his tenacity in delivering relevant, meaningful cyber solutions that help providers and reinsurers grow. He knows the challenges both providers and reinsurers face and is continually working with Sontiq’s cyber team to develop and deliver innovative, relevant solutions to customers.”

Prior to his time at Cyberscout, Cullina held complex claims management roles at Travelers and Allianz. Before that, he was director of product development at MetLife. Cullina is an in-demand speaker and thought leader on cyber risk and insurance. He chaired the Board of Identity Theft Resource Center (ITRC) for six years, one of several boards he’s served on. Cullina graduated cum laude from Salve Regina University in Newport, R.I. with a major in politics.

“Sontiq has exactly the vision and scale to deliver in-demand cyber solutions to the global insurance marketplace,” said Cullina. “I’m excited to join the team during a massive growth period and look forward to supporting and scaling our insurance partnerships, helping more providers and reinsurers grow their businesses.”
