About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Celebrating the Class of 2021 at Cyber Academy of South Carolina

Cyber Academy of South Carolina (CASC), an online public school, will celebrate the Class of 2021 during commencement ceremonies on Saturday, June 5th.

Available to students in grades K-12 across the state, CASC offers innovative learning platforms, a robust curriculum, and live virtual classes taught by state-licensed teachers.

Collectively, the Class of 2021 reports it has been accepted to trade schools, colleges, and universities throughout the country including many across South Carolina.

“Our graduating students from all walks of life have had the amazing opportunity to learn in a supportive, online environment,” said CASC Head of School David Crook. “I have no doubt that the skills they’ve honed at CASC have put them on the path to college and career success.”

Through the school’s Stride Career Prep program, some CASC graduates have paired a solid academic foundation with hands-on learning experiences in growing career fields like health and human services, information technology (IT), and much more. Seventy-three percent of CASC seniors are graduating with a certified career-ready indicator. These include: industry-standard certifications, work-study, internship, or job shadow opportunities. Roughly 17 percent are graduating one year early.

“The faculty and staff at CASC feel so honored to have played a role in the development and education of each student graduating this year. We have truly enjoyed working closely with each graduate and having the opportunity to support them in reaching goals and preparing for life after high school,” said CASC High School Principal Nicki Batson. “We look forward to seeing all they accomplish and the many ways they impact the world they are entering.”

Students enroll in CASC for a number of reasons—some are looking to escape bullying, some have health concerns, many wish to accelerate their learning through advanced courses unavailable at their traditional school, and others are looking for an alternative to the traditional classroom setting to find success. CASC students access a robust online curriculum in the core subjects of math, science, English language arts, history, art and music as well as a host of electives. Live virtual classes taught by state-licensed teachers provide not only an engaging environment but give students the opportunity to learn with their peers in an online platform.
