About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Novata Receives Network 20/20 Global Innovators Award for Governance and Institutions

The award underscores Novata’s commitment to leveraging technology and uniting industry experts to enable a more sustainable and inclusive form of capitalism for the private markets

Novata, the leading ESG data management platform built for the private markets, today announced it received the Network 20/20 Global Innovators Award for Governance and Institutions. The award recognizes organizations that promote solid and sound governance and institutions, through innovative use of technology, training, or other means. This award is a testament to Novata’s commitment to empower private markets to achieve a more sustainable and inclusive form of capitalism.

Backed by a consortium that includes the Ford Foundation, S&P Global (NYSE: SPGI), Hamilton Lane (NASDAQ: HLNE) and Omidyar Network, and with the support of more than a dozen private equity firms and pension funds, Novata is the leading ESG data management platform built specifically for the private markets. The Novata platform provides:

  • a clear starting point for selecting ESG metrics
  • painless data collection into a secure database
  • insights and analytic tools to inform investment decisions.

The award was presented to the Novata team at the 2022 Innovators Awards in Global Affairs and Gala on September 29th. The event is Network 20/20’s premier event showcasing emerging innovation, global leadership, and people-to-people diplomacy by bringing together prominent global leaders, entrepreneurs, philanthropists, academics, and corporate supporters. Novata’s Chief Impact Officer and Head of ESG, Lorraine Spradley-Wilson, accepted the award at the event.

“Addressing the most pressing issues of our time will require consolidation and alignment on ESG measurement approaches to support the use of industry-standard ESG disclosures, as well as coordination across various businesses, policymakers and NGOs to deliver the most effective solutions,” Lorraine Spradley-Wilson, Novata’s Chief Impact Officer and Head of ESG. “No single player can move the needle on their own, and Novata is focused on making ESG data accessible for the private markets by collaborating with a broad ecosystem of stakeholders to understand the needs and challenges facing the industry.”

Network 20/20’s award also recognized Novata’s commitment to uniting industry experts and thought leaders through their ESG Advisory Council that was formed in 2022. The Novata ESG Advisory Council underscores the company’s operating principles of collaboration, working across sectors, and partnering with key subject matter experts to empower private companies and their investors to address critical ESG challenges.

Since Novata’s platform launch in April, Novata has also welcomed a range of private equity and credit firms to the General Partner Advisory Committee (GPAC) and has experienced significant global demand for its ESG data management platform.

“Our team has been working diligently towards our mission to arm the private markets with the most effective platform to enable ESG data collection,” said Lauren Peat, Novata’s Chief Revenue Officer. “It is inspiring to see the impact the Novata team has driven in under a year’s time, and the Innovators Award is a clear nod to the hard work and progress towards our collective goal.”
