About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Amazon is Hiring 150,000 Employees to Help Deliver Great Holiday Experiences

Full-time, seasonal, and part-time roles available across Amazon’s operationssign-on bonuses up to $3,000 in select locations, and seasonal employees will have an opportunity to transition to full-time positions

Company recently announced a nearly $1 billion investment in additional pay over the next year, bringing average pay to more than $19 per hour

Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) today announced that it is hiring 150,000 employees throughout the U.S. in full-time, seasonal, and part-time roles across its operations network. A diverse range of roles—from packing and picking to sorting and shipping—are available to applicants from all backgrounds and experience levels. Employees can earn, on average, more than $19 per hour based on position and location in the U.S. Interested candidates can see all the regions with open positions at www.amazon.com/apply.

“We’re proud to offer a wide variety of roles for people of all backgrounds, with more than 150,000 roles available across the country. Whether someone is looking for some extra money for a few months or a long-term career, the holidays are a great time for people to join Amazon, and many of our seasonal employees return year-after-year or transition into full-time roles,” said John Felton, Amazon’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Operations. “Those who choose to stay with us will find a lot of opportunities to grow their careers, whether they take advantage of our free college tuition programs or seek out promotions across our network—this year alone, more than 20,000 front-line employees received promotions.”

Jobs in Amazon’s operations network include stowing, picking, packing, sorting, shipping customer orders, and more, and are available in hundreds of cities and towns across America. These roles can be the start of a long-term career inside or outside the company. The flexibility of the jobs available come with a wide range of hours—full- and part-time—and excellent pay and benefits. Sign-on bonuses ranging from $1,000 to $3,000 are available in select locations.

“I’m an HR professional by trade and joined Amazon in a seasonal operations role when the company I worked for closed,” said Amazon employee Rose Deimler, who is now a senior human resources business partner at Amazon’s fulfillment center in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. “I was really just looking for a job to help pay the bills while I figured out my next step and, nearly 11 years later, I’ve grown the opportunity into a senior-level HR role with five direct reports. Now, I’m able to help other employees learn and grow within the company.”

While there are jobs available across the country, the states with the greatest number of available positions include: California, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Missouri, Oregon, Texas, Tennessee, Utah, and Washington.

Amazon employees around the world team up to meet the needs of customers every day. Employees are the heart and soul of the company, which is why Amazon jobs not only include great pay, but also provide comprehensive benefits for regular full-time employees, including career advancement and earned pay access, health, vision, and dental insurance from the first day on the job; a 401(k) with 50% company match; up to 20 week’s paid leave, and 6 weeks of parental leave; and Amazon’s Resources for Living program, a free mental health benefit offering services and support for employees, their families, and their households. To ensure customer orders are picked, packed, and shipped on time every single day, Amazon continues to invest in our employees, technology, supply chain planning, transportation, and the Delivery Service Partner program in an effort to get customers what they want, when they want it, wherever they are.
