Helen of Troy Limited Expands Board of Directors with Appointment of Tabata Gomez and Elena Otero

Helen of Troy Limited (NASDAQ: HELE), designer, developer and worldwide marketer of consumer brand-name home, outdoor, health, wellness, and beauty products, today announced the appointment of Tabata Gomez and Elena Otero to the Helen of Troy Limited Board of Directors, effective May 3, 2022. Ms. Gomez is President of Hand Tools, Accessories & Storage Group for Stanley Black & Decker Inc. Ms. Otero recently retired from her position as Chief Marketing Officer, eCommerce Officer and Strategy Officer for the International business at The Clorox Company. Both women are experienced business leaders with demonstrated track records of long-term success in the global consumer products industry.

With the additions of Ms. Gomez and Ms. Otero, the Company’s Board of Directors will be comprised of ten directors, nine of whom are independent. The Board of Directors expects to return to nine directors following the previously announced retirement of Director Gary Abromovitz, which will be effective following this year’s Annual General Meeting of the Shareholders.

About Tabata Gomez

Tabata Gomez is President, Hand Tools, Accessories & Storage Group, a $4 billion business unit within Stanley Black & Decker Inc.’s Tools & Storage division. She joined the company in 2017, earning progressively more senior roles during her tenure. She brings extensive experience in global marketing, brand building, general management, product innovation, operational leadership, and organizational development. Tabata also brings expertise in digital marketing and licensed product management. Prior to joining Stanley Black & Decker, Tabata worked for Coty Inc USA, and for Procter & Gamble in the United States, Europe, and Latin America in Beauty, Appliances, and other consumer categories.

Tabata grew up in Mexico and earned a bachelor’s degree in international relations at Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City. She serves on the Board of Directors for the World Trade Center Institute.

About Elena Otero

Elena Otero has over 30 years of global consumer products industry experience, mainly in marketing, growth and strategy, ecommerce, and general management. Elena has led complex, multicultural and multifunctional organizations spanning more than 25 countries. Her experience covers a wide range of categories including Home Care, Pets, Beauty, and Personal Care. She brings extensive senior experience in marketing disciplines such as brand building, consumer insights, innovation, analytics, digital, and consumer engagement. She also has general management experience in several geographies, including the US, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. Elena recently retired from The Clorox Company following a twenty-year career. Prior to Clorox, Elena worked for twelve years at Procter & Gamble in Latin America.

Elena grew up in Venezuela and holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and a master’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering from Boston University, as well as an MBA from IESA in Venezuela.
