About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Students From Cyber Academy of South Carolina To Be Celebrated with In-Person Graduation Ceremony They Earned

After two years of questions and distractions, the students from Cyber Academy of South Carolina (CASC), an online public school serving Kindergarten through 12th grade students throughout the state, will celebrate their graduation with an in person commencement ceremony this weekend.

Staffed by state-licensed teachers, CASC is authorized by The Charter Institute at Erskine.

“Graduation is a day that many students didn’t think was possible, but they persevered and through their hard work, love and dedication of their families, and the caring staff at Cyber Academy of South Carolina, this far-away dream is now an amazing reality,” said Erin Craft, Graduation Coach CASC. “We are so proud of each of our graduates and look forward to seeing what the future holds for them.”

In CASC, ELA, Math, and Science proficiency improved in over 66% of grade levels during the pandemic where the state declined. Additionally, the school increased its graduation rate by nearly 16% in the past three years. During the past 2 years, COVID and other benefits to schooling at home has led to an increase in enrollment that nearly doubled the school’s population.

This year, CASC will graduate nearly 300 students. Members of the graduating class report they have been accepted to colleges and universities across South Carolina and beyond, including Full Sail University, Clemson University Anderson University, College of Charleston, Winthrop University, Francis Marion University, University of South Carolina, Texas A & M, and Baylor University.

Kody Ashley is CASC 2022 valedictorian and plans to take a gap year before returning to college and joining the AirForce. Luis Vargas Gómez is the class salutatorian and will attend Horry-Georgetown Community College.

Students choose online learning for a number of reasons—some are looking to escape bullying, some may have fallen academically off track, and others are looking for an alternative to the traditional classroom setting. CASC students access a robust online curriculum in the core subjects and a host of electives and attend live online classes taught by state-certified teachers.

CASC is inviting all families and friends worldwide to join the celebration as the event will be livestreamed on CASC’s Facebook page. Details of the graduation ceremonies are as follows:

WHAT: Cyber Academy of South Carolina Graduation Ceremony

WHERE: Koger Center, 1051 Greene Street Columbia, SC 29201

WHEN: Saturday, June 4th, 2022, 2:00pm

CONTACT: For any questions about the celebrations, please contact Erin Craft at ecraft@cyberacademysc.org. For media inquiries, please contact FaithHoney Anderson at fanderson@k12.com.
