About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

1Kosmos Certified for UK Government Digital Identity and Attributes Trust Framework

1Kosmos BlockID platform recognized as digital identity service provider for all use cases; Certification reinforces company’s commitment to supporting all leading global identity standards

1Kosmos, the company that unifies identity proofing and passwordless authentication, today announced the 1Kosmos BlockID platform has received certification for the UK Digital Identity and Attributes Trust Framework (UKDIATF), which validates identity and authentication service providers meet security and privacy standards for protecting users' privacy and data. 1Kosmos is already certified to the leading digital identity verification standards including NIST 800-63-3 via Kantara, FIDO2 and iBeta biometrics.

The UKDIATF’s goal is to ensure that digital identities are trustworthy, secure and interoperable, and that they can be used confidently across various private and public sectors and services. The 1Kosmos BlockID platform has been certified as a digital Identity Service Provider (IDSP) and Attribute Service Provider (ASP) under UKDIATF.

The certification provides organizations the trust and confidence of knowing that 1Kosmos BlockID complies with the UK government’s security standards, while providing trustworthy remote identity verification and a user-friendly experience to reduce the risk of fraud for businesses.

“UKDIATF defines standards for organizations providing or using digital identity services to ensure a consistent approach to digital identity verification, minimizing risks associated with identity fraud or misuse,” said Huzefa Olia, COO of 1Kosmos. “This certification provides further proof that the BlockID platform meets the most stringent requirements for identity providers around the world, while ensuring user data security and privacy are maintained at the highest levels.”

1Kosmos BlockID automates, meets and exceeds the requirements of the UKDIATF verification process which requires the system to enable a user to take a selfie and photo of their identity document, validate the document’s authenticity, and run checks against the CIFAS database (Credit Industry Fraud Avoidance System), credit history, electoral roll, and politically exposed person (PEP) registry. Once a user passes these checks, their session is approved.

About 1Kosmos BlockID

The 1Kosmos BlockID identity verification and multifactor authentication platform combines biometrics with a private blockchain to generate a verified digital identity for each end user. The solution registers a user’s face biometrics using liveness detection and a selfie video, triangulates their biographic data from verified credentials, and binds that information to a reusable identity wallet. From there, the user can log into their accounts with a blink and a smile. The platform has attained certification to NIST 800-63-3 via Kantara, FIDO2 and iBeta’s PAD Level 2 guidelines, and offers a range of applications, including employee/ customer onboarding, non-phishable passwordless MFA into digital services, and even official ID for citizens through a Credential Service Provider managed service.

About 1Kosmos

1Kosmos enables passwordless access for workers, customers and residents to securely transact with digital services. By unifying identity proofing and strong authentication, the BlockID platform creates a distributed digital identity that prevents identity impersonation, account takeover and fraud while delivering frictionless user experiences. BlockID is the only NIST 800-63-3 via Kantara, FIDO2 and iBeta biometrics certified platform that performs millions of authentications daily for some of the largest banks, telecommunications and healthcare organizations in the world. The company is funded by Forgepoint Capital and Gula Tech Adventures with headquarters in East Brunswick, New Jersey. For more information, visit www.1kosmos.com and follow us on X and LinkedIn.
