About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

K12 Draws a Line Against Bullying, Period.

Online learning leader launches resource hub, webinar series, and support for non-profit partner Rachel’s Challenge during National Bullying Prevention Month.

Every year, nearly 6 million students in the U.S. report being bullied at school, according to the National Center for Education Statistics. In recognition of Bullying Prevention Month this October and to help protect the mental health and well-being of students throughout the year, K12 announced today the launch of a new Bullying Prevention Resource Hub for students, parents, and educators looking to take an active role in putting a stop to bullying.

“No student should ever be worried about going to school or logging into class because they’re afraid of being bullied,” said Tony Bennett, President of Schools at K12. “We work every day to help students change their future in an environment where they feel safe and respected. We are excited to extend that commitment to students everywhere through these new resources.”

K12’s new Bullying Prevention Resource Hub will provide tools on bullying prevention, practices in kindness, and strategies for protecting mental health. Content will also include videos, quizzes, fact sheets, and more for students of all ages, resource guides for teachers and parents, live and recorded web events, and more.

K12 is also partnering with Rachel’s Challenge, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating positive school cultures through acts of kindness. To support Rachel’s Challenge, K12 is hosting its first-ever K12 Draw a Line Against Bullying Move-A-Thon event throughout the month of October. The Move-A-Thon invites individuals and groups to show their commitment to prevent bullying through exercise and fundraising for Rachel’s Challenge’s school-based programs.

“We are thrilled to be working with K12 to raise awareness of ways to prevent bullying and to empower students and school communities to lead with kindness,” said Kristi Krings, Chief Executive Officer at Rachel’s Challenge.

Beginning October 4, K12 will also host a month-long Bullying Prevention Webinar Series each Wednesday in October. Special guests, including Ms. Krings, will join K12 leaders for conversations about first-hand experiences with bullying, the risks of cyberbullying, and ways to create safe learning environments.

In a recent survey of parents whose students are enrolled in K12-powered schools, 44% said they enrolled because of safety and/or bullying-related concerns at a previous school. A leader in online education for more than twenty years, K12 has transformed teaching and learning by providing innovative, high-quality, tech-enabled education solutions directly to students and schools.
