About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Scattareggia and Flannery previously served as the chief revenue officers of their respective business units.

They succeed former Windstream Wholesale and Enterprise President Buddy Bayer who is departing at the end of the year to pursue another opportunity.

“Joe Scattareggia and Mike Flannery are highly skilled telecommunications executives with a deep understanding of our network, products and people, and they are both keenly focused on meeting our customers’ needs in a rapidly changing marketplace,” Sunu said. “I have had the opportunity to work with both Joe and Mike and am looking forward to collaborating alongside them even more closely in the future.”

Sunu wished Bayer well. “Buddy Bayer is a dynamic leader and will bring great value to his new role,” Sunu said.

Scattareggia, who joined Windstream in 2013, and Flannery, who joined in 2017, will be responsible for all sales, marketing, service delivery and customer care for their respective business units. Scattareggia will also have responsibility for field operations. Flannery will continue to oversee the Windstream Enterprise Channel Program.

“I am truly honored for the opportunity to lead this great team,” Scattareggia said. “Working alongside Buddy for nine years has been a privilege, and we had a lot of fun fostering a strong friendship. I look forward to collaborating closely with Paul and our senior leadership team to further propel the growth of Windstream Wholesale. Our commitment to our customers and our team, recognized as ‘best in the business’ in the industry remains unwavering as we continue to execute our strategic goals and nurture the vibrant spirit of our Fast and Flexible culture.”

“Accepting the role to lead the Enterprise organization is an exciting opportunity for me and aligns well with my background in guiding customer-centric organizations through transformations over my career,” Flannery said. “I am confident in the organization’s ability to adapt and drive the necessary changes required within our business and industry. We will move forward focused upon utilizing a customer-centric mindset, led by a people-first approach that guides and enables us to deliver on our commitments to customers, partners, employees and stakeholders of Windstream Enterprise.”
