About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Teradata Operationalizes Artificial Intelligence (AI) Models at Scale with Integration of Google Cloud’s Vertex AI, Teradata VantageCloud and ClearScape Analytics

VantageCloud and ClearScape Analytics give organizations the ability to accelerate AI-led digital transformation initiatives with the AI/ML tools of their choice

Teradata (NYSE: TDC) today announced the integration and general availability of Google Cloud’s Vertex AI with Teradata VantageCloud and ClearScape Analytics, the complete cloud analytics and data platform. By operationalizing sophisticated Vertex AI models with the scalability and performance of ClearScape Analytics, customers can move from experimenting with AI to achieving AI-driven business success across a multitude of use cases.

According to a recent Accenture survey of executives at the world’s 2,000 largest companies, those who discussed AI on their earnings calls were 40% more likely to see their firms' share prices increase. However, only 12% of these organizations are “AI achievers” – companies that have differentiated AI strategies and the ability to operationalize for business value. In fact, most companies (63%) are “AI experimenters” – companies that lack mature AI strategies and capabilities to operationalize.

With Teradata VantageCloud and ClearScape Analytics plus Vertex AI, organizations can move seamlessly from being AI experimenters to AI achievers. ClearScape Analytics, delivers enterprise-scale performance that ensures customers can execute AI/ML on massive datasets, regardless of where that data sits within an organization. Vertex AI helps users take advantage of various cutting-edge algorithms to build high-quality AI models in less time and with minimal expertise. When combined, Teradata’s AI and Vertex AI enable companies to put more sophisticated AI models into production, faster, and to scale those models across the organization.

“Our customers are investing in the power of AI to fuel their digital transformations and achieve tangible business outcomes that have a real-world impact on their businesses,” said Hillary Ashton, Chief Product Officer at Teradata. “Our openness and scalability facilitate the operationalization of Vertex AI’s models across an organization and its mission-critical use cases – such as customer churn, fraud detection, predictive maintenance, and supply chain optimization. Customers are able to make bold business decisions, driven by data, that keep them ahead of the competition.”

"Vertex AI enables data scientists to build, deploy and scale machine learning models faster, with fully managed tools and services for use cases across industries. This capability, when combined with the vast and reliable analytics data sets prepared by Teradata, gives customers the ability to scale their AI/ML initiatives quickly and with confidence, speeding time to value,” said June Yang, Vice President, Cloud AI and Industry Solutions at Google Cloud.

Teradata VantageCloud, ClearScape Analytics, and Vertex AI work together seamlessly, giving customers using VantageCloud on Google Cloud the ability to tap into the power of their data in three simple steps:

  1. Accelerate data preparation by quickly integrating disparate datasets that span diverse environments, data lakes, and object stores. Using the power of Teradata’s analytics capabilities, ClearScape Analytics, and in particular its robust in-database analytics, data scientists can transform data into rich, reusable analytic datasets.
  2. Build and train high quality AI/ML models faster with Vertex AI using analytic datasets prepared with ClearScape Analytics.
  3. Operationalize the Vertex AI models at scale in VantageCloud. The integration with Vertex AI offers VantageCloud customers direct, transparent, and real-time access to all their models, which in turn delivers the crucial insights needed to drive business outcomes.
