About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

University of Phoenix Workforce Solutions Group Creates new National Workforce Director Position

Seasoned university leader Lauri Perdue fills new position to develop and oversee strategic initiatives connecting with talent acquisition teams and recruiting managers

University of Phoenix is pleased to announce the selection of Lauri Perdue as the National Workforce Director in the University’s Workforce Solutions Group, a new position dedicated to development and oversight of strategic initiatives connecting with talent acquisition teams and recruiting managers.

“Lauri is uniquely capable in this new position, where she brings her experience as an advocate for students and a deep understanding of workforce needs,” states Leo Goncalves, vice president of Workforce Solutions Group at University of Phoenix. “Her energy and vision will propel this initiative forward and enhance our mission as a career-focused university.”

In the role of National Workforce Director, Perdue will engage with companies, providing strategic thought partnership to create and maintain a dynamic program to encourage employers to recruit and hire University of Phoenix graduates.

“It’s exciting to move into a role so focused on relationship building and student and alumni support,” Perdue shares. “I look forward to exploring and collaborating on initiatives that can provide individual career pathways and enhance community workforce capabilities.”

Perdue is an experienced strategic leader with more than 25 years in higher education, organizational leadership, and account management.

Perdue began her career at the University of Phoenix as Director of Enrollment and served in that position for 11 years before pursuing other career experiences. She returned in 2020 to serve as Campus and Academic Director in Las Vegas, Nevada, where she was responsible for a quality education experience for ground and online students as well as workforce development and higher education consulting, provided leadership, mission execution, and oversight in campus operations, and led outreach and engagement with alumni and community leaders. In this role, Perdue worked extensively with regional and national employers and HR leaders, as educational consultant and workforce development leader.

An engaged economic development board member and executive committee member working with regional leaders to diversify the economy and create workforce solutions for organizations and communities, Perdue serves on the Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance as the Vice Chairwoman, and Executive Committee Leader for the Talent Pipeline Council. “As industries look to Southern Nevada as a place to expand or relocate it is crucial that a robust talent pipeline is available to meet the demands currently and with emerging talent and industry,” Perdue shares. This committee is the first of its kind in the community and with her higher education experience and keen understanding of the market needs, Perdue serves as a tremendous asset to the future of workforce development locally and in communities across the nation on behalf of University of Phoenix.

Perdue is actively engaged in community support, as Board Chair of Serving Our Kids Foundation, an organization addressing food insecurity for school aged children in Southern Nevada. She is also Treasurer on the Board of Directors for the State of Nevada Board of Examiners for Marriage and Family Therapists and Clinical Professional Counselors.

The University of Phoenix Workforce Solutions team offers companies across diverse industries as well as community colleges tailored learning and career pathways to recruit, upskill, reskill, and retain their workforce in an affordable and timely manner.
