KOMO/Seattle Wins RTDNA National Edward R. Murrow Award

Anchor Eric Johnson Wins Best Sports Reporting

Sinclair Broadcast Group, a subsidiary of Sinclair, Inc. (Nasdaq: SBGI), is proud to announce that KOMO in Seattle, WA has been honored by the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) with a National Edward R. Murrow Award. The Murrow Awards recognize outstanding achievements in broadcast and digital journalism.

KOMO News Anchor Eric Johnson and the Eric's Heroes team were honored in the Sports Reporting/Large Market Television category for Birth of a Boom, a story about a Bainbridge Island family that invented the now ubiquitous sport of pickleball, 58 years ago. Johnson's Birth of a Boom earned him his third consecutive National Murrow Award win and is the only National Murrow Award winner in the Seattle market this year.

Earlier this year, 14 of Sinclair’s owned and/or operated content centers across the country were honored with the prestigious RTDNA Regional Edward R. Murrow Award for Outstanding Journalism. In total, Sinclair brought home a collective 23 of these regional awards, a testament to the company’s commitment to providing the best in local journalism.
