About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

NanoString to Host Virtual Spatial Genomics Summit September 19

Fifth annual event will explore the latest advancements in spatial biology highlighting new products and customer success stories

NanoString Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: NSTG), a leading provider of life science tools for discovery and translational research, announced it will host its fifth annual Spatial Genomics Summit, September 19th. The two-hour virtual event will showcase advances in the rapidly expanding field of spatial biology with talks from scientific leaders harnessing the power and utility of our spatial platforms for discovery, drug development, the quest for biomarkers and comprehensive data interrogation from clinical trials.

“The Spatial Genomics Summit is an educational forum for showcasing hot-off-the-press datasets and breakthrough applications,” said Joe Beechem, Chief Scientific Officer of NanoString. “In addition, the summit is an efficient way for researchers to see what their peers are achieving using our GeoMx Digital Spatial Profiler (DSP) and CosMx Spatial Molecular Imager (SMI) platforms.”

Summit highlights include:

  • Vikram Devgan, Ph.D. Senior Director, Product Management, NanoString: Introduction of new spatial biology products, including the 570-plex GeoMx® IO Proteome Atlas (IPA) and CosMx™ 6K Discovery Panel RNA assay.
  • Joseph Beechem, Ph.D. Chief Scientific Officer, NanoString: Spatial Biology Roadmap: Transforming the Information Content Obtained from a Single Tissue Section. Single cell spatial imager performance comparison, CosMx 6K RNA dataset release, and neuroscience applications.
  • Nic West, Ph.D. Senior Lecturer, Griffith University: Mapping the Spatial Cellular and Subcellular Heterogeneity of type 2 Inflammation. Application of GeoMx DSP and CosMx SMI to obtain greater insight into the way cells are operating to drive dysfunctional immune activity.
  • Sophie Wehrkamp-Richter, Ph.D. Sr. Product Marketing Manager, Illumina: Spatial Proteogenomics: NanoString GeoMx Digital Spatial Profiler datasets now available on Illumina BaseSpace Sequence Hub (BSSH).
  • Parambir Dulai, MD Associate Professor of Medicine, Northwestern University: Spatial Host-Microbe Interactions in Inflammatory Bowel Disease. Application of GeoMx WTA and CosMx 6K Discovery panel to study IBD and Crohn’s disease.
  • Susan Heavey, Ph.D. Lecturer, University College London: Spatial Transcriptomics for Characterization of Advanced Cancer Models. Application of GeoMx WTA and CosMx 1K Human to explore the effects of a panel of targeted therapies in patient derived explants.
  • Melissa Davis, Ph.D. Program Lead, Computational Systems Oncology, SAiGENCI: Methods for Multi-scale Analysis of Spatial Transcriptomics Data. Bioinformatics pipeline development for GeoMx DSP and CosMx SMI data analysis.
