About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

According to the World Health Organization, hearing loss affects 48 million people in the US and nearly 430 million worldwide. Since the FDA's ruling on October 17, 2022, adults with mild-to-moderate hearing loss can now purchase hearing aids in store or online without a prescription, exam, or audiologist fitting. As a result, a growing number of Americans with hearing loss are accessing hearing aid solutions more easily. Additionally, the FDA estimates this could lower average costs by as much as $3,000 per pair, offering significant financial relief.

"The FDA's Over-the-Counter Hearing Aid Act signaled a monumental shift, impacting the accessibility and affordability of hearing aids," said Stan Zhang, General Manager of the Zepp Clarity Business Unit. "We're at the forefront of the OTC hearing aid market, leveraging cutting-edge technology and design to redefine optimal hearing health and destigmatize hearing aids. Underpinning our belief that hearing health is fundamental to overall wellness, we aim to embolden those with hearing loss to take control of their well-being, comfortably and confidently."

Zepp Clarity Pixie – Your Virtually Invisible Hearing Aid

Zepp Clarity Pixie embodies all the powerful features of its predecessor, Zepp Clarity One, including the ability to personalize hearing experiences to specific needs and preferences. The hearing aid is crafted with a durable yet lightweight titanium alloy shell, ensuring durability and lightness. Combined with medical-grade silicone earplugs, it offers comfort, breathability, performance, and biocompatibility for an enhanced hearing experience. The Pixie boasts an IPX7 water-resistance rating and incorporates a convenient "Find Device" feature.

Designed to integrate effortlessly into a user's daily routine, Zepp Clarity Pixie seamlessly fits in the ear canal, serving as a virtually invisible companion that discreetly guides them through their day. Users can control Zepp Clarity Pixie from smartphones, tablets, or Amazfit smartwatches via Bluetooth® Low Energy (BLE) technology. Additional features of Zepp Clarity Pixie include:

  • Ultra-compact and lightweight design, weighing just 1.1 grams each with tip
  • 17-hour battery life, supplemented with a rechargeable case for extra power on the move
  • Offers features like Adaptive Feedback Cancel, Wind Noise Reduction, and Layered* Noise Reduction to manage feedback and noise
  • Simple and easy to use
  • Smart Phone Call feature that automatically switches the hearing aid to a Phone program, reducing feedback for easier conversation
  • Eight unique programs on the Zepp Clarity App, adjusting for treble, middle, bass, and noise filter for each program
  • 2-year warranty

Dean Lukehart, an early customer of Zepp Clarity, shared, "After resisting hearing aids for almost 40 years, I recently tried Zepp Clarity, and I couldn't be more satisfied. The learning curve was minimal, and after a very short time, I felt like I had worn them forever. I barely notice wearing them, but my friends and family certainly do! I especially like using the app to set separate programs for different tonalities, volume levels, and environments. I recommend Clarity One for anyone with a less than satisfactory experience with other hearing aids. But I mostly think people like me, who have hesitated to try hearing aids, should try these. They have improved my hearing and, quite honestly, my quality of life in a very short time. I cannot see a downside to Zepp Clarity."

The Zepp Clarity Family: Addressing Hearing Loss Challenges

Zepp Clarity One is the first product in Zepp Clarity's line of hearing solutions. Together with Zepp Clarity Pixie, the family offers a comprehensive system for high-performance hearing, addressing the everyday challenges of hearing loss. Zepp Clarity One is marked by a simple-to-use, discreet design that provides an impressive 18-hour battery life and rechargeable case so users can navigate their day uninterrupted. Both devices utilize the Zepp Clarity App, allowing users to customize their settings, including treble and bass, enabling a tailored hearing experience that fits individual needs. The hearing aids are adjustable, and users can optimize their auditory environment with up to 12 unique settings.
