About Cabling Installation & Maintenance:

Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals.

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on:

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Winston & Strawn Launches Artificial Intelligence Strategy Group

Winston & Strawn LLP is pleased to announce the launch of its Artificial Intelligence (AI) Strategy Group. Consistent with Winston’s long-standing tradition of thought leadership on the intersection of law and technology, the group will be responsible for coordinating the full spectrum of transactional, litigation, regulatory, and counseling services across industries as it relates to the adoption and regulation of artificial intelligence, with a particular focus on generative AI.

The group features lawyers and technologists across all of Winston’s core practices with experience in both the application of AI in providing legal services and counseling clients on its use. The group will draw on this experience to monitor legal and technological developments in the AI landscape to help clients meet a wide range of needs, such as managing the shifting regulatory landscape, drafting policy and procedures, and handling novel causes of action presented through use of AI.

“The rapid evolution in AI presents unique legal and technological challenges for companies across all industries,” said partner John Rosenthal, chair of Winston’s eDiscovery and Information Governance Practice. “The group’s collective experience brings to bear an intimate understanding of how to realize AI’s promise while minimizing risks for our clients.”

The group also actively evaluates AI technologies for legal-specific use cases, including legal research, corporate due diligence, and predictive analytics, and will define Winston’s policies, procedures, and best practices to leverage AI and integrate it into business workflows, and provide education on AI’s benefits and risks.

“The AI Strategy Group will be examining AI technologies with an eye toward achieving our ultimate goal – delivering legal excellence and driving the best possible results for Winston’s clients,” said partner Krishnan Padmanabhan, co-chair of the Technology, Media and Telecom Industry Group.

“The advent of generative AI has spurred business leaders across industries to seek out reliable guidance on the technology’s business integration, as well as on the critical, emerging regulatory frameworks that support this innovation,” said Winston Chairman Tom Fitzgerald and Chair-Elect Steve D’Amore. “We’re excited to witness the real-world benefits that this new group and its deep bench of talent will bring to the firm and our clients.”
