About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

2023 Guild Giving Golf Event Raises $500,800 for San Diego Charities

Fifth Annual Golf Tournament, Silent Auction and Dinner Fundraiser Supports MyPath2Own Dedicated to Lisa Klika, Home Start, and TACO

The Guild Giving Foundation, a nonprofit organization created by Guild Mortgage Company to deliver on its commitment to building relationships and strengthening communities, presented $500,800 to three local San Diego charities from funds raised during its fifth annual Charity Golf Tournament, Auction and Dinner Social.

Proceeds from the October 2023 golf event were presented in December to charities serving the San Diego community, including MyPath2Own Dedicated to Lisa Klika, Home Start and Third Avenue Charitable Organization (TACO).

“We are committed to giving back to our local communities and are fortunate to have key sponsors and people throughout the community join us in supporting the important work being done by Home Start and TACO in San Diego,” said Terry Schmidt, Guild Mortgage CEO. “We were very successful in our fifth year and are grateful to continue funding MyPath2Own Dedicated to Lisa Klika, our own charitable program to help teach borrowers how to be ‘homeownership ready’ and aid with closing costs.”

The annual Guild fundraising event has sold out in its last five years and raised more than $1.6 million for important causes such as homelessness and education for disadvantaged youth.

MyPath2Own Dedicated to Lisa Klika is a charitable program Guild launched in 2023—in honor of the company’s late Chief Compliance Officer who strongly supported homeownership within underserved communities. The charitable program helps potential borrowers become mortgage ready through homebuyer education, concierge service and a closing cost assistance grant for those who complete the path. The money raised at the golf tournament and through employee direct donations funds the MyPath2Own grant. The charity received a check for $300,800 from Guild Giving from the proceeds of the 2023 golf event.

Home Start provides services to women and children living in poverty who require immediate, comprehensive housing and supportive services to ensure their safety and healthy development. The charity received a check for $100,000 from Guild Giving from the proceeds of the 2023 golf event.

TACO supports the dignity, health and well-being of people experiencing homelessness and poverty by providing food, clothing, shelter and many health and social services to the most vulnerable men, women and children in San Diego. The charity received a check for $100,000 from Guild Giving from the proceeds of the golf event.

Sponsors for the 2023 event included Informative Research, Lockton, R3AMC, Sidley, Weiner, Brodsky and Kider, Cooley, EverBank, Texas Capital, ALAW, Wells Fargo, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, J.P. Morgan, Tavant, McCarthy Capital and other local and national sponsors.
