About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Kinetic Opens New Fiber-Internet Network Across Ripley County’s Doniphan Area

  • 1,200 homes now eligible for high-speed internet after $890,000 broadband build
  • 32 construction projects will increase connectivity for telehealth, streaming, banking, work from home

Kinetic, a leading provider in residential and small business fiber broadband solutions, completed a new nearly $1 million fiber internet build for 300 homes and businesses in the Doniphan area.

The $890,000 build is part of Kinetic’s multi-year $2 billion plan to bring fiber to homes and small businesses across its 18-state footprint.

Kinetic announced the completion at a ribbon cutting on Oct. 17 at the local Kinetic office with the Ripley County Chamber of Commerce. This project is one of 32 fiber builds underway or recently completed in Ripley County.

“In Ripley County alone, more than 1,200 homes and businesses are now eligible for a fiber upgrade from traditional copper or fixed wireless internet,” said Patrick Brimberry, Kinetic’s president of Field Operations for Missouri. “This significant development means that more homes in the area will enjoy seamless streaming, enhanced remote work capabilities, and improved access to telehealth services, which are vital for rural communities.”

Throughout the Doniphan area and Ripley County, Kinetic delivers high-speed fiber internet to rural and suburban areas previously underserved. More than 75 miles of Kinetic’s fiber optic network include many residences along the Current River corridor where there has been limited connectivity.

“Access to Kinetic’s fiber internet means Doniphan residents will experience 99.9%* reliability without the risks of inclement weather and congestion on their connection,” said Eric Kirk, Kinetic’s construction manager for Missouri. “As projects continue to conclude, more of the community will become eligible in the next few months.”

Additional builds across the county will bring fiber to 400 more Ripley County homes and small businesses. By the end of the year, Kinetic expects to provide fiber to nearly 1,600 locations across Ripley County.

Kinetic's Next Generation High-Speed Internet is available in thousands of towns, cities and counties across our 18-state footprint. For those residents and small businesses looking to sign up for Kinetic's internet, with 99.9% network reliability* and no data caps or annual contracts, just visit our website and type in a residential or business address to check for availability www.gokinetic.com.
